Multiply you first equation by 2 to get 4x + 10y = 22
Now the x terms can be eliminated and cancelled out using elimination.
4x + 10y = 22
4x + 3y = 1

To eliminate you need to "subtract", so you need to multiply one of the equations by -1.

4x + 10y = 22
-4x -3y = -1
------------------
0 + 7y = 21
y = 3

Now plug 3 into either one of the equations to get x.

Answer:

A. Plant 1 is growing at a faster rate than Plant 2.

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope (m) or rate of growth in Plant 1 is;

m = Change in y ÷ change in x

m =  \frac{3.5 - 1.5}{1 - 0} = 2

The linear equation of growth in Plant 1 is;

\frac{y - 1.5}{x - 0} = 2

y = 2x + 1.5

The equation of growth in Plant 2 is; y = 1.5x + 3 (slope of 1.5)

Since the slope in growth of Plant 1 is greater than that in Plant 2, it implies then that Plant 1 is growing at a faster rate than Plant 2.

Find the measure of ∠C if ∠A = 3 2 x + 20 ∠B = 7 2 x + 20 ∠C = 5 2 x + 40 ∠D = 3 2 x + 10 A) 65° B) 76° C) 95° D) 115°
Rudiy27
The sum of the angles of a quadrilateral is 360°.
\left(\dfrac{3}{2}x+20\right)+\left(\dfrac{7}{2}x+20\right)+\left(\dfrac{5}{2}x+40\right)+\left(\dfrac{3}{2}x+10\right)=360\\\\9x+90=360\\\\x=\dfrac{270}{9}=30

Given that x=30, the measure of ∠C is
  ∠C = (5/2)×30 +40 = 115

The appropriate choice is ...
  D) 115°

Itzik 45 seconds to fill an 18 down container how long will it take to fill a 40 gallon container
Akimi4 [234]
When answering this question, I'm assuming "18 down" means 18 gallons
To find the answer, we can divide:
40/18 = 5
( This basically means that there are 5 containers in the 40 gallon container)
knowing this:
45*5 = 225
(Basically solves the time to fill 5 containers)
It will take 225 seconds
