GPE is the gravitational Potential Energy which is given by mgh.
mg is the gravitational force(a force) and h is the height of the object(or distance of the object from earth's surface)
SO GPE = mg (force) x h (distance)
Water is formed when this happens
In order to properly measure the displacement, the object must be completely submerged, however in the diagram the wood is floating. So the measured displacement will only be a fraction of what it actually is.
