A coffee cup calorimeter is prepared, containing 100.000 g of water (specific heat capacity = 4.184 J/g K) at initial temperatur

e 80.000 C. A salt weighing 7.093 g is quickly added. The salt has a molar mass of 379.984 g/mol. The final temperature of the solution is 61.128 C. Assume no heat loss to the surroundings. Assume the specific heat capacity of the solution is equal to that of pure water, and that the mass of the solution is equal to the mass of the solid plus the mass of water in the calorimeter. What is the molar heat of solution for the salt, in kJ/mol? Report your answer to three digits after the decimal

Answer : The molar heat of solution for the salt is 452.9 kJ/mole

Explanation :

First we have to calculate the heat of solution.

q=m\times c\times \Delta T

where,

q = heat of solution = ?

c = specific heat of water = specific heat of solution = 4.184J/g.K=4.184J/g^oC

m = mass of solution = 107.093 g

  • Mass of solution = Mass of water + Mass of salt
  • Mass of solution = 100.000 g + 7.093 g = 107.093 g

\Delta T = change in temperature = T_2-T_1=(80.000-61.128)=18.872^oC=

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get:

q=107.093g\times 4.184J/g^oC\times 18.872^oC

q=8456.111J=8.456kJ

Now we have to calculate the molar heat of solution for the salt, in kJ/mol.

\Delta H=\frac{q}{n}

where,

\Delta H = molar heat of solution = ?

q = heat required = 8.456 kJ

m = mass of salt = 7.093 g

Molar mass of salt = 379.984 g/mol

\text{Moles of salt}=\frac{\text{Mass of salt}}{\text{Molar mass of salt}}=\frac{7.093g}{379.984g/mole}=0.01867mole

\Delta H=\frac{8.456kJ}{0.01867mole}=452.9kJ/mole

Therefore, the molar heat of solution for the salt is 452.9 kJ/mole

Two cars are traveling at the same constant speed v. Car A is moving along a straight section of the road, while B is rounding a
Kamila [148]

Answer:

Car A is not accelerating, but car B is accelerating

Explanation:

Car A is not accelerating because , it is moving with uniform speed in a particular direction . Therefore its velocity too is not changing .

But car B is accelerating because , though its speed is uniform but its velocity is changing due to change in direction . On a circular path , direction of speed changes every moment . Therefore it has an acceleration called centripetal acceleration . Hence car B has acceleration.

An airplane cruises at 850 km/h relative to the air. It is flying from Denver, Colorado, due west to Reno, Nevada, a distance of
skad [1K]

Answer:

difference in flight time= 0.3023 hour

Explanation:

The question is incomplete, but I found it in your textbook.

Spped of aircraft = 850 km/h

Opposing speed of wind = 90km/h

Hence, the net speed when it's travelling west = 850 - 90 = 760 km/hr

The distance covered = 1200km

time taken = distance/ time = 1200/ 760 = 1.5789 hours

When coming back, the speed of the wind is complementary to the speed of the aircraft so

net speed when it's coming back = 850 +90 = 940 km/hr

time taken in this instance = 1200/ 940 = 1.2765 hours

Hence, the difference in flight time= 1.5789 - 1.2765 = 0.3023 hour

2. Using examples to describe each term, differentiate
melisa1 [442]

Answer: find the answer in the explanation

Explanation:

Average velocity is the average value of magnitude of initial velocity and final velocity.

If U = initial velocity and V = final velocity, then average velocity can be expressed as

Average velocity = ( U + V )/2

A vehicle who takes 60 minutes to cover 30 miles north and then 30 miles south and end up at the same place, has an average speed of 60 miles divided by 60 minutes, or 1 mile per minute.

Instantaneous velocity is the distance covered in a specific direction per time taken. Instantaneous velocity can be expressed as

Velocity = displacement/ time.

Uniform velocity occurs when we have a constant velocity. That is, when velocity does not change. When a vehicle travels in equal distances in equal intervals of time.
