Ayyy, we use our good friend ratios.

So when doing this, we know that the ratios of these need to be similar.

We can solve by setting this up as:

14/10 = x/6

Edit: Wait, nope, maybe I am write.  I see you already did Pythagoras

Ahh, try this.

14/16 = x/6

The answer is 5.25!

5. Is arithmetic mean a proper measure of central tendency of data ? 7. Can a set of data, having two modes, have two points of
katovenus [111]

Step-by-step explanation:

Arithmetic mean has become the most widely used measure of central tendency of data. ... That is why arithmetic mean is regarded as the ideal measure of central tendency. One demerit of arithmetic mean is that it is affected by the extreme value (of observed data)

Distance between parallel lines y=3x+10 and y=3x-20
Alecsey [184]

1. Take an arbitrary point that lies on the first line y=3x+10. Let x=0, then y=10 and point has coordinates (0,10).

2. Use formula d=\dfrac{|Ax_0+By_0+C|}{\sqrt{A^2+B^2}} to find the distance from point (x_0,y_0) to the line Ax+By+C=0.

The second line has equation y=3x-20, that is 3x-y-20=0. By the previous formula the distance from the point (0,10) to the line 3x-y-20=0 is:

d=\dfrac{|3\cdot 0-10-20|}{\sqrt{3^2+(-1)^2}}=\dfrac{30}{\sqrt{10}}=3\sqrt{10}.

3. Since lines y=3x+10 and y=3x-20 are parallel, then the distance between these lines are the same as the distance from an arbitrary point from the first line to the second line.

Answer: d=3\sqrt{10}.

What is the value of x, when -9(x-5)=x+22 1/2
Kipish [7]

Answer:

x = 2.25

Step-by-step explanation:

 -9(x - 5) = x + 22 1/2

Distribute the nine and then add 9x to both sides

 -9x + 45 = x +22 1/2

+ 9x        + 9x

Then try to get x alone

       45 = 10x + 22 1/2

     -22 1/2       -22 1/2

    22.5 = 10x

   \frac{22.5}{10} = \frac{10x}{10}

   2.25 = x
