Increase. The Law of Boyle and Gay Lussac subscribes that when the pressure remains constant, V/T is constant. So if T rises, so must V to keep the number constant.

Physics double pivot question
andriy [413]

Explanation:

Assuming the wall is frictionless, there are four forces acting on the ladder.

Weight pulling down at the center of the ladder (mg).

Reaction force pushing to the left at the wall (Rw).

Reaction force pushing up at the foot of the ladder (Rf).

Friction force pushing to the right at the foot of the ladder (Ff).

(a) Calculate the reaction force at the wall.

Take the sum of the moments about the foot of the ladder.

∑τ = Iα

Rw (3.0 sin 60°) − mg (1.5 cos 60°) = 0

Rw (3.0 sin 60°) = mg (1.5 cos 60°)

Rw = mg / (2 tan 60°)

Rw = (10 kg) (9.8 m/s²) / (2√3)

Rw = 28 N

(b) State the friction at the foot of the ladder.

Take the sum of the forces in the x direction.

∑F = ma

Ff − Rw = 0

Ff = Rw

Ff = 28 N

(c) State the reaction at the foot of the ladder.

Take the sum of the forces in the y direction.

∑F = ma

Rf − mg = 0

Rf = mg

Rf = 98 N

On an unknown planet in the outer-reaches of the solar system, a pendulum with a 12 g bob and a string length of 4 m oscillates
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]

The acceleration due to gravity (g) on this planet is 39.44 m/s²

<h3>What is solar system?</h3>

Solar system consists of all the planets and the most importantly the center of the solar system is Sun.

Given is an unknown planet in the outer-reaches of the solar system, a pendulum with a 12 g bob and a string length of 4 m oscillates with a period of 2 seconds.

The time period of the pendulum is

T = 2π √l/g

Squaring both sides, we get

l/g = T² / 4π²

g = 4π²l/ T²

Substitute Time period T = 2s and  length l = 4m,  we get

g = 4π²x 4/ 2²

g =39.44 m/s²

Thus, the acceleration due to gravity on this planet is 39.44 m/s²

In the Rutherford model of hydrogen the electron (mass=9.11x10-31 kg) is in a planetary type orbit around the proton (mass=1.67x
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

(a) F_g=1.62*10^{-48}N

(b) F_e=3.68*10^{-9}N

Explanation:

(a) We use Newton's law of universal gravitation, in order to calculate the gravitational force between electron and proton:

F_g=-G\frac{m_1m_2}{r^2}

Where G is the Cavendish gravitational constant, m_1 and m_2 are the masses of the electron and the proton respectively and r is the distance between them:

F_g=-6.67*10^{-11}\frac{N\cdot m^2}{kg^2}\frac{(9.11*10^{-31}kg)(1.67*10^{-27}kg)}{(2.5*10^{-10}m)^2}\\F_g=-1.62*10^{-48}N

The minus sing indicates that the force is repulsive. Thus, its magnitude is:

F_g=1.62*10^{-48}N

(b) We use Coulomb's law, in order to calculate the electric force between electron and proton, here k is the Coulomb constant and e is the elementary charge:

F_e=-k\frac{e^2}{r^2}\\F_e=-8.99*10^{9}\frac{N\cdot m^2}{C^2}\frac{(1.6*10^{-19}C)^2}{(2.5*10^{-10}m)^2}\\F_e=-3.68*10^{-9}N

Its magnitude is:

F_e=3.68*10^{-9}N
