2 In a hydraulic press a force of 20 N is applied to a piston of

Physics
1 answer:
Zigmanuir [339]4 years ago
6 0

Let index 1 refer to the pisyon with smaller section. And index 2, to the other piston.

F1=20N

S1=0.2m²

S2=2m².

a) pressure p= F1/S1=F2/S2.

We get: p=F1/S1=20N/0.2m²=100N/m²

b) force on the other piston:

F2=p×S2

F2=100N/m²×2m²=200N

Answer: p=100N/m², F2=200N

Why are choir concerts better in performance halls than in gymnasiums?
dlinn [17]

Constructive interference in performance halls and the elimination of echoes are reasons why choir concerts better in performance halls than in gymnasiums.

What is constructive interference?

Constructive interference is a phenomenon which occurs when two waves travelling in same direction and which are in phase add up together to produce a wave of greater amplitude.

Constructive interference occurs in performance halls while destructive interference occurs in gymnasiums.

Also in performance halls, echoes are minimized due to the padded walls and the curtains while echoes which disturb choir concerts occur in gymnasiums.

Therefore, choir concerts better in performance halls than in gymnasiums because of constructive interference in performance halls and the elimination of echoes.

Arrange the following types of photons of electromagnetic radiation in order of decreasing energy: red light, radio, x-rays, γ-r
MrRa [10]

Answer:The correct order is

γ-rays > x-rays> red light > infrared > radio

Explanation:

In the electromagnetic spectrum we have the following electromagnetic radiation Radio waves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet light, X-ray and gamma rays. Gamma rays have the highest  frequency and radio waves the lowest. From the formula;

E=hf,      where;

E is energy

h is Planck constant

f is frequency

We can see that the energy of these radiation depends on the magnitude of their frequency. Hence Gamma ray with highest frequency will have the highest energy and radio waves the lowest energy. Red light however is found at the lower end of the visible light spectrum . the correct order is;

γ-rays > x-rays> red light > infrared > radio
