Consider two parallel straight wires carrying electric current in opposite directions with the same magnitude of 2.0 A. The cent

er-tocenter distance between the two wires is 5.0 mm. One wire is infinitively long and the other wire is 0.30 m long. Is the magnetic force between the two wires repulsive or attractive? What is the magnitude of the magnetic force between them? (Answer: ????????=4.8×10−5 ????????)

Answer:

Both wires repels to each other and magnitude of the magnetic force between them is 4.8 \times 10^{-5} N

Explanation:

Given:

Current I =2 A

Length of wire l = 0.30 m

Separation between two wire a = 5 \times 10^{-3} m

Here current is in opposite direction so both wires repels to each other.

Force in current carrying wire is given by,

   F = \frac{\mu_{o} I^{2} l }{2\pi a}

Where \mu_{o} = 4\pi \times 10^{-7}

   F = \frac{4\pi \times 10^{-7} \times (2)^{2} \times 0.3  }{2\pi \times 5 \times 10^{-3}  }

   F = 4.8 \times 10^{-5} N

Therefore, both wires repels to each other and magnitude of the magnetic force between them is 4.8 \times 10^{-5} N

Water is being boiled in an open kettle that has a 0.52-cm-thick circular aluminum bottom with a radius of 12.0 cm. If the water
tangare [24]

Answer:

T_b=107.3784\ ^{\circ}C

Explanation:

Given:

  • thickness of the base of the kettle, dx=0.52\ cm=5.2\times 10^{-3}\ m
  • radius of the base of the kettle, r=0.12\ m
  • temperature of the top surface of the kettle base, T_t=100^{\circ}C
  • rate of heat transfer through the kettle to boil water, \dot Q=0.409\ kg.min^{-1}
  • We have the latent heat vaporization of water, L=2260\times 10^3\ J.kg^{-1}
  • and thermal conductivity of aluminium, k=240\ W.m^{-1}.K^{-1}

<u>So, the heat rate:</u>

\dot Q=\frac{0.409\times 2260000}{60}

\dot Q=15405.67\ W

<u>From the Fourier's law of conduction we have:</u>

\dot Q=k.A.\frac{dT}{dx}

\dot Q=k\times \pi.r^2\times \frac{T_b-T_t}{5.2\times 10^{-3}}

where:

A= area of the surface through which conduction occurs

T_b= temperature of the bottom surface

15405.67=240\times \pi\times 0.12^2\times \frac{T_b-100}{5.2\times 10^{-3}}

T_b=107.3784\ ^{\circ}C is the temperature of the bottom of the base surface of the kettle.

Which is true about carbon-12 compared with carbon-13
creativ13 [48]
E mass number of any given atom depends solely on the number of protons and neutrons in its nucleus. The mass number of any atom can be determined by adding the number of protons and neutrons. (Mathematically this is stated as Mass Number = Protons + Neutrons). For instance, a Carbon atom with 6 protons and 6 neutrons will have a mass number of 12AMU. However, a Carbon atom with 6 protons and 8 Neutrons will have a mass number of 14AMU. They are both Carbon atoms, however they each have a different mass number. Atoms of the same element that have different numbers of neutrons, and therefore, different mass numbers, are called isotopes. Isotopic symbols are used to indicate isotopes of the same elements. In the following isotopic symbols the lower number is the atomic number…it is the number of protons. The upper number is the mass number, it represents to sum of the protons and neutrons in the atoms nucleus.
