Answer: 0.1524 km

Explanation:

We have to convert 500 ft to kilometers, and we can do it knowing 1 ft=0.30 48 m and 1 km=1000 m:

500 ft \frac{0.3048 m}{1 ft} \frac{1 km}{1000 m}

Hence:

500 ft=0.1524 km

What is the rate of heat transfer by radiation, with an unclothed person standing in a dark room whose ambient temperature is 22
SIZIF [17.4K]

Answer:

5.45\times 10^{-4} W

Explanation:

T_{r} = Temperature of the room = 22.0 °C = 22 + 273 = 295 K

T_{s} = Temperature of the skin = 33.0 °C = 33 + 273 = 306 K

A = Surface area = 1.50 m²

\epsilon = emissivity = 0.97

\sigma = Stefan's constant = 5.67 x 10⁻⁸ Wm⁻² K⁻⁴

Rate of heat transfer is given as

R = \epsilon \sigma A (T_{s}^{2} - T_{r}^{2})

R = (0.97)(5.67\times 10^{-8}) (1.50) ((306)^{2} - (295)^{2})

R = 5.45\times 10^{-4} W

Consider the previous situation. Under what condition would the acceleration of the center of mass be zero? Keep in mind that F1
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

a) m₁ = m₂  F₁ₓ = F₂ₓ

b) m₁ << m₂   F₂ₓ =0

Explanation:

This interesting exercise is unclear your statement, so that in a center of mass system has an acceleration of zero it is necessary that the sum of the forces on each axis is zero, to see this we write Newton's second law

     ∑ F = m a

for acceleration to be zero implies that the net force is zero.

we must write the expression for the center of mass

        x_{cm} = 1 / M (m₁ x₁ + m₂ x₂)

now let's use the derivatives

      a_{cm} = d² x_{cm}/dt² = 1 / M (m₁ a₁ + m₂a₂)

where M is the total mass M = m₁ + m₂

     so that the acceleration of the center of mass is zero

               0 = 1 / M (m₁ a₁ + m₂a₂)

               m₁ a₁ = - m₂ a₂

In the case that we have components on the x axis, the modulus of the two forces are equal and their direction is opposite, therefore

   F₁ₓ = -F₂ₓ

b)r when the two masses are equal , in the case of a mass greater than the other m₁ << m₂

      acm = d2 xcm / dt2 = 1 / M (m1 a1 + m2a2)

so that the acceleration of the center of mass is zero

               0 = 1 / M (m1 a1 + m2a2)

               m1 a1 = - m 2 a2

with the initial condition, we can despise m₁, therefore

                0 = m₂a₂

 if we use Newton's second law

              F₂ = 0

I tell you that in this case with a very high mass difference the force on the largest mass must be almost zero

A neutral atom of uranium (U) has 146 neutrons and a mass number of 238. How many protons does it have?
BARSIC [14]

Answer:

92 protons

Explanation:

The mass number is 238 , so the nucleus has  <u>238  particles</u> in total, including <u>146 neutrons</u>.  So to calculate the number of neutrons we have to subtract:  238  −  146  =  92
