Explanation:

1) when skating because of friction , some of the kinetic energy is converted to thermal energy.

therefore Kinetic energy is reducing and thermal energy is increasing

2) when the brake pads are applied , the speed get decreased . this will cause the Kinetic energy to reduce. thermal energy is increased due to the friction occur when braking

3)  when the boy stop , he no longer has a movement. now the whole amount of kinetic energy should be transfered to another form of energy. So the thermal arises

4) as we know energy can never be destroyed. it can only be transferred in to another form. here the kinetic and the thermal energy were the only types of energy that we could see.

therefore

Total Energy = kinetic energy + thermal energy

In springboard diving, the diver strides out to the end of the board, takes a jump onto its end, and uses the resultant spring-l
Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

10.4 m/s

Explanation:

The problem can be solved by using the following SUVAT equation:

v=u+at

where

v is the final velocity

u is the initial velocity

a is the acceleration

t is the time

For the diver in the problem, we have:

u=+6.3 m/s is the initial velocity (positive because it is upward)

a=g=-9.8 m/s^2 is the acceleration of gravity (negative because it is downward)

By substituting t = 1.7 s, we find the velocity when the diver reaches the water:

v=+6.3 + (-9.8)(1.7)=-10.4 m/s

And the negative sign means that the direction is downward: so, the speed is 10.4 m/s.

A 2.26 kg book is dropped from a height 1.5m what is its acceleration
Arada [10]
The answer is 9.8 ms^-2, because there is only one force acting on the object so the acceleration will be numerically equal to the gravitational field strength.
