Sam, whose mass is 75 kg , takes off across level snow on his jet-powered skis. The skis have a thrust of 160 N and a coefficien

t of kinetic friction on snow of 0.1. Unfortunately, the skis run out of fuel after only 15 s .
A: What is Sam's top speed?

- I found the answer to be 17 m/s (can you check this for me?)
B: How far has Sam traveled when he finally coasts to a stop? (I have no idea for this one)

Answer:

top speed = 17.25

Total height = 281.19 m

Explanation:

given data

mass = 75 kg

thrust = 160 N

coefficient of kinetic friction = 0.1

solution

we get here frictional force acting that is

frictional force = \mu *m*g   .............1

frictional force = 0.1 × 75 × 9.8

frictional force = 73.5 N

and

Net force acting will be F = 160 - 73.5  N

F = 86.5 N

so

Acceleration in the First 15 second  will be

F = ma .........2

86.5 = 75 × a

a = 1.15 m/s²

and

now After 15 second the velocity will be  as

v = u + at   ..........3

here u is 0

so v will be

V = 1.15 × 15

v = 17.25

and

now we get travels distance S  in 15 s

s = u × t + 0.5 × a × t²

here u is 0

so distance s will be

s = 0.5 × a × t²

s = 0.5 ×  1.15 × 15²

s = 129.37 m

and

now  acceleration acting is

F =  \mu *m*g

m a =  \mu *m*g

a = \mu* g

a = - 0.98

here it is negative it mean downward nature of acceleration

and

now we get distance s by this formula

V² - u² = 2 a s

here v velocity is 0  and

u initial velocity is 17.25 m/s

put here value

0 - 17.25² = 2 × (-0.98) × s

solve it we get

s = 151.82 m

so

Total height is

Total height = 129.37 m + 151.82 m

Total height = 281.19 m

A river 1.00 mile wide flows with a constant speed of 1.00 mph. A man can row a boat at 2.00 mph. He crosses the river in a dire
gladu [14]

To solve this problem we will apply the geometric concepts of displacement according to the description given. Taking into account that there is an initial displacement towards the North and then towards the west, therefore the speed would be:

V_T^2=v_N^2-v_W^2

V_T = \sqrt{v_N^2-v_W^2}

Travel north 2mph and west to 1mph, then,

V_T = \sqrt{2^2-1^2}

V_T = \sqrt{3}

The route is done exactly the same to the south and east, so make this route twice, from the definition of speed we have to

v= \frac{\Delta x}{t}

t = \frac{\Delta x}{v}

t = \frac{2*(1mile)}{\sqrt{3}mph}

t = 1.15hour

Therefore the total travel time for the man is 1.15hour.

The perceived loudness of a sound is measured in
diamong [38]
<h2>Answer: decibels </h2>

The decibel dB is the relation between two values: the pressure produced by a sound wave and a pressure taken as a reference. Resulting in a dimensionless value.

It should be noted that itself<u> is not a unit of measure</u>, since in reality the unit is bel B (which <u>is not part of the International System of Units</u>) in honor of Alexander Graham Bell.

However, given the amplitude of the measured elements in practice, its submultiple, the decibel, is used. That is, this quotient is a logarithmic expression, where 1dB=0.1B

A petrol tanker ha 2800kg when empty and hold 30m3 0f petrol when full. The denity of petrol i 740kg/m3. Calculate the ma of the
White raven [17]

The mass of the tanker with petrol is 250000 N.

We are given that,

Mass of tanker= m =2800 kg

Volume of petrol= v =30 m³

Density of petrol= d =740 kg/m³

Thus , mass , density and volume relation can be given as,

density= mass/ Volume

Mass = Density × Volume

Mass = 740× 30

Mass = 22200 kg

The mass of the petrol is 22200 kg.

Total mass of tanker with petrol = Mass of petrol + Mass of tanker

Total mass of tanker with petrol= 22200+ 2800 kg

Total mass of tanker with petrol= 25000 kg

Total weight of the tanker with petrol = Mass of tanker full of petrol× g

Where, weight = m × g ,(g =10m/s²)

Total weight of the tanker with petrol= 25000×10 = 250000 N

Therefore, the mass of petrol, total mass of tanker with petrol and weight of tanker with petrol would be  22200 kg, 25000 kg and 250000 N.

Assume that the polymer material has a constant refractive index of 1.5. For light of 600nm wavelength at normal incidence, what
yaroslaw [1]

Answer:

Minimum thickness will be 100 nm

Explanation:

We have given refractive index is n = 1.5

Wavelength of the light incidence \lambda= 600 nm

We have to find the smallest thickness of the film so that there will be minimum light reflect

For minimum thickness of non reflecting film

t=\frac{\lambda }{4n} , here t is thickness, \lambda is wavelength and n is refractive index

Putting all values t=\frac{600}{4\times 1.5}=100nm

So minimum thickness will be 100 nm
