Sam, whose mass is 75 kg , takes off across level snow on his jet-powered skis. The skis have a thrust of 160 N and a coefficien

t of kinetic friction on snow of 0.1. Unfortunately, the skis run out of fuel after only 15 s .
A: What is Sam's top speed?

- I found the answer to be 17 m/s (can you check this for me?)
B: How far has Sam traveled when he finally coasts to a stop? (I have no idea for this one)

Answer:

top speed = 17.25

Total height = 281.19 m

Explanation:

given data

mass = 75 kg

thrust = 160 N

coefficient of kinetic friction = 0.1

solution

we get here frictional force acting that is

frictional force = \mu *m*g .............1

frictional force = 0.1 × 75 × 9.8

frictional force = 73.5 N

and

Net force acting will be F = 160 - 73.5 N

F = 86.5 N

so

Acceleration in the First 15 second will be

F = ma .........2

86.5 = 75 × a

a = 1.15 m/s²

and

now After 15 second the velocity will be as

v = u + at ..........3

here u is 0

so v will be

V = 1.15 × 15

v = 17.25

and

now we get travels distance S in 15 s

s = u × t + 0.5 × a × t²

here u is 0

so distance s will be

s = 0.5 × a × t²

s = 0.5 × 1.15 × 15²

s = 129.37 m

and

now acceleration acting is

F = \mu *m*g

m a = \mu *m*g

a = \mu* g

a = - 0.98

here it is negative it mean downward nature of acceleration

and

now we get distance s by this formula

V² - u² = 2 a s

here v velocity is 0 and

u initial velocity is 17.25 m/s

put here value

0 - 17.25² = 2 × (-0.98) × s

solve it we get

s = 151.82 m

so

Total height is

Total height = 129.37 m + 151.82 m

Total height = 281.19 m

this problem occurs in petroleum firefighting when fire streams are applied to the burning liquid surface at such an angle that
shutvik [7]

Petroleum has less density than water. So, when fire streams are applied to the burning liquid surface at such an angle that hot and / or burning oil is forced over the edge of the tank, the oil then flows down the side of the tank and you are now confronted with a fire on the ground as well as the one in the tank.

What are the reasons not to use fire streams during deal with burning oil?

When you spray water on a regular fire, you're attempting to lower the flame's temperature and contain the fire.

Fuel for an oil fire is oil. Temperature and oxidizer are present in a fire (oxygen). Due to the fact that oil is lighter than water, an explosion may result if it floats above water while water sinks beneath oil.

Consequently, water shouldn't be used to put out oil fires.

20. A car battery with a 12-V emf and an internal resistance of 0.050 Ω is being charged with a current of 60 A. Note that in th
topjm [15]

Answer:

Part a)

V = 15 Volts

Part b)

P = 180 Watt

Part c)

Rate = 720 Watt

Explanation:

Part a)

When battery is in charging then the potential difference of the terminals of cell is given by

\Delta V = EMF + iR

here we know that

EMF = 12 volts

i = 60 A

r = 0.050 ohm

now we have

\Delta V = 12 + (0.050)(60) = 15 Volts

Part b)

Rate of thermal energy dissipated is the energy which is dissipating across the resistor

so here we have

P = i^2 R

P = (60^2)(0.05)

P = 180 Watt

Part c)

Rate at which Energy stored inside the cell is the rate of electrical energy that is converted into the chemical energy

Rate = EMF \times i

Rate = (12)(60)

Rate = 720 Watt

If the sound source is moving then the pitch of the sound will ___________________ to the observer.
Alika [10]

Answer:

Increase

Explanation:

The frequency of sound determines the sound. If the frequency is lower the pitch will be lower. If the frequency is higher the pitch will be higher. This is affected by the motion of the sound source because when a sound source is moving faster the frequency will become higher.
