A 0.389 kg metal cylinder is placed inside the top of a plastic tube, the lower end of which is sealed off by an adjustable plun

ger. The cylinder comes to rest some distance above the plunger. The plastic tube has an inner radius of 7.41 mm and is frictionless. Neither the plunger nor the metal cylinder allow any air to flow around them. If the plunger is suddenly pushed upwards, increasing the pressure between the plunger and the metal cylinder by a factor of 2.79 , what is the initial acceleration a of the metal cylinder? Assume the pressure outside of the tube is 1.00 atm and that the top of the tube is open to the air.

Answer:

The initial acceleration is 97.96 m/s²

Explanation:

Given data:

m = mass of metal cylinder = 0.389 kg

r = radius of plastic tube = 7.41 mm = 7.41x10⁻³m

P₀ = pressure = 1 atm = 1.013x10⁵Pa

The pressure inside the tube is:

P=P_{0} +\frac{mg}{\pi r^{2} } =1.013x10^{5} +\frac{0.389*9.8}{\pi (7.41x10^{-3})^{2}  } =1.234x10^{5} Pa

The pressure applied by the plunger is:

P_{p} =2.79*P=2.79*1.234x10^{5} =3.443x10^{5} Pa

The difference between the pressure applied by the plunger and the pressure inside the tube is:

delt-P=3.443x10^{5} -1.234x10^{5} =2.209x10^{5} Pa

The initial acceleration is:

a=\frac{delta-P*A}{m} =\frac{2.209x10^{5}*\pi  *(7.41x10^{-3})^{2}  }{0.389} =97.96m/s^{2}

In which situation is maximum work considered to be done by a force?
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

A) When the angle between the Force (F) and Displacement (x) is 0°, because, Work done (W) is directly proportional to the Cosine of the Angle between the Force applied and the resultant displacement of the subject.

W = F•x cos ∅

If ∅ = 0°,

W = F•x ===> Maximum Work Done.

If ∅ = 45°,

W = F•x/√2

If ∅ = 90°,

W = 0

If ∅ = 180°,

W = –F•x ===> Minimum Work Done.

The stars in the sky are organized into groups of stars called constellations which appear near each other in the sky but are no
bezimeni [28]

Answer:

The International Astronomical Union (IAU)  has accepted 88 constellations in the sky.

Explanation:

Constellations has been used since the beginnings of civilizations and each one of them named them as they considered appropiate. It means Greeks' constellations were different than the ones described by Chinese, so it was necessary to gather all these constellations and make a great record with all of them, but there was a problem: Some constellations from different civilizations overlaped because they shared the same stars. There was necessary to put some order on this and that is when in 1922 the International Astronomical Union (IAU) defned a set of 88 moderm constellations  that would become the international standard to look at the night sky. Each one of them is unique and does not share stars with the other constellations.

Can some answer 7 a and b please
pav-90 [236]

Answer:

a.After 15 second Mr Comer's speed =  1.7 m/s

b.Distance travelled by Mr.Comer in 15 seconds  =   18.75\ m

Explanation:

a. Lets recall our first equation of motion V_{f} =V_{i} + at

Now we know that V_{i} = 0.8m/s , a = 0.06\ m/s^2 and

t = 15 \ sec

Plugging the values we have.

V_{f} =V_{i} + at

V_{f} =0.8 + 0.06 \times 15

V_{f} =0.8+ 0.9

V_{f} =1.7 m/s

Then Mr.Comer's speed after 15 sec = 1.7ms^-1

b.

Lets find the distance and recall our third equation of motion.

V_{f} ^2-V{i}^2 = 2as

So s = distance covered.

Dividing both sides with 2a we have.

\frac{V_{f} ^2-V{i}^2}{2a} = 2as

Plugging the values.

\frac{(1.7)^2-(0.8)^2}{2\times0.06} = 2as

s= 18.75\ m

So Mr.Comer will travel a distance of s= 18.75\ m.
