Each atom and element differs because of the amount of protons as they are the one unchangeable thing. an atom can have a different amount of neutrons because that is an isotope of an atom and a different amount of electrons as atoms form bonds but the one thing that cannot be changed is the protons

Which of the following correctly describes a property of an atom?
Masteriza [31]

Answer:

it has an equal number of neutrons and electrons

Explanation:

Number of protons always equal number of electron, but that's the case with a neutral atom. A neutral atom is an atom of any element that has no electric charge over it. This implies that it has same number of protons and electrons in it.

In the presence of an emulsifying agent, a mixture of oil and water becomes a _____.
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

Colloidal dispersion or emulsion

Explanation:

The colloid of a liquid in liquid (both dispersed phase and dispersion medium are liquids) is known as emulsion or colloidal dispersion.

We know that oil and water are immiscible liquids. In order to make them miscible we have have add emulsifying agents.

An emulsifying agent has a long non polar hydrocarbon chain (in general) and a polar head.

For example salts of fatty acids.

The polar head is hydrophilic and non polar tail is hydrophobic.

It causes the miscibility of the two polar and non polar liquids

Explain the importance of the periodic table
Licemer1 [7]

Answer:

In fact, the periodic table is so accurate that it allows scientists to predict the chemical and physical properties of elements that hadn't yet been discovered. ... "The elements, if arranged according to their atomic weights, exhibit an apparent periodicity of properties," said Mendeleev.

Ethanol has the chemical formula C2 H6 O . A sample of ethanol contains 164grams of C. How many molecules are in the sample? (4.
baherus [9]

Answer:

We have 8.22 * 10^24 C atoms

We have 4.11 * 10^24 ethanol molecules

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Molecular formula of ethanol = C2H6O

Mass of C = 164 grams

Molar mass C = 12.01 g/mol

Step 2: Calculate moles C

Moles C = mass C / molar mass C

Moles C = 164 grams / 12.01 g/mol

Moles C = 13.66 moles

Step 3: Calculate molecules of C

Atoms C = moles C * number of Avogadro

Atoms C = 13.66 moles * 6.02 * 10^23 molecules/ mol

Atoms C = 8.22 * 10^24 C atoms

Step 4: Calculate molecules in the sample

For 1 mol C2H6O we have 2 moles C

For 13.66 moles C we have 13.66/ 2 = 6.83 moles C2H6O

Molecules C2H6O = 6.83 moles * 6.02 * 10^23 = 4.11 *10 ^24 molecules

what temperature does water freeze using degrees Celsius and what is the basic unit for measuring mass
Olin [163]

Freezing point is the temperature at which a substance undergoes a phase transition from liquid to solid state. Water converts from liquid state to solid ice at a temperature of 0^{0}C.

Mass is the amount of matter contained in a substance. The SI unit of mass is kilogram. 1 kilogram is equal to 1000 g. One kilogram is defined as the mass of one cubic decimeter of water at the freezing point of water.
