Why is the brcl molecules polar??

Chemistry
2 answers:
Dahasolnce [82]3 years ago
6 0

The electronegativity value of Br and Cl is 2.8 and 3.0 respectively.

The electrinegativity difference in the Br-Cl bond is 3.0 – 2.8 = 0.2

If the electronegativity difference is below 0.5 the covalent bind is nonpolar

If the electronegativity difference is between 0.5 and 2.0 the covalent bond is polar.

If the electronegativity difference is above 2.0 the bond is ionic

As the electronegativity difference is below 0.5 the Br-Cl covalent bond is nonpolar

Because there is a permanent dipole between the Br and Cl atom. The Cl atom has a higher electronegativity, so it will tend to pull the "shared" electrons formed in the bond to its pole, creating a permanent dipole and partial electron deficiency on the bromine atom.

Explain what is cellular growth and repair? Why is it important?
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

Cell growth usually refers to cell proliferation, the increase in cell numbers that occurs through repeated cell division. Cell growth can also refer to the enlargement of cell volume, which can take place in the absence of cell division. As living things grow, some cells die or become damaged and need replacements. Some single-celled organisms use a type of mitosis as their only form of reproduction. In multicellular organisms, cell division allows individuals to grow and change by expanding the number of total cells.

Hope this helps!!!

Considering the temperature vs. time graph below, how does the temperature at the beginning of a change of state
Cloud [144]

Answer:

The temperature is always lower.

Explanation:

The temperature is always lower at the end of the state as compared to beginning of the state. We can see in the given data, the temperature is higher at the beginning i. e. 140 degree Celsius but with the passage of time, the temperature of a state decreases constantly and the temperature at the end is lower i. e. 20 degree Celsius. So we can conclude that the temperature is always lower.

mestny [16]
The conclusion that would support the students prediction is B) Plant "A" grows taller than Plant "B".
If the student thinks that adding fertilizer to the plant would help it grow then answer B) would make the most sence.
