A student decides to spend spring break by driving 50 miles due east, then 50 miles 30 degrees south of east, then 50 miles 30 d

egrees south of that direction, and to continue to drive 50 miles deviating by 30 degrees each time until he returns to his original position. How far will he drive, and how many vectors must he sum to calculate his displacement

Answer:600 miles, 12

Explanation: The movement described in the question exhibits that of a polygon. Exhibiting a constant distance and angle with only varying direction until the starting point is reached.

The sum of exterior angles of a polygon = 360 degrees.

Exterior angle of a polygon = (360 ÷ number of sides)

Therefore,

Number of sides = 360 ÷ exterior angle

Exterior angle = 30 degrees

Hence,

Number of sides = 360 ÷ 30 = 12 sides

Since distance traveled of 50 miles is the same for each displacement ;

Total displacement = distance traveled * number of sides

Total displacement = 50 * 12 = 600 miles.

Does a force cause motion or a change in motion
Brrunno [24]
It changes the motion as Newton's second law of motion states that a force, acting on an object, will change its velocity by changing either its speed or its direction or both. If your basketball goes rolling into the street and is hit by a bike, either the ball will change direction or its speed or both.

Two pickup trucks each have a mass of 2,000 kg. The gravitational force between the trucks is 3.00 × 10-5 N. One pickup truck is
levacccp [35]

Answer:

New gravitational force would be: 4.5\,\,\,10^{-5}\,\,\,N

Explanation:

Recall the general form of the gravitational force between two objects of masses m1 and m2 separated a distance "d":

F_g=G\,\frac{m1\,*\, m2}{d^2}

which for the 2000 kg trucks becomes:

F_g=G\,\frac{m1\,*\, m2}{d^2} \\3\,\,\,10^{-5}\,N=G\,\frac{2000\,*\, 2000}{d^2}

when we add 1000 kg of bricks to one truck, we get the following unknown force (x) that we need to find:

F_g=G\,\frac{m1\,*\, m2}{d^2} \\x=G\,\frac{3000\,*\, 2000}{d^2}

Now we divide term by term the last equation by the previous one, in order to cancel out common factors to both equation (G, d^2) and get the following equation:

\frac{x}{3\,\,\,10^{-5}} =\frac{3000}{2000} \\x=\frac{9}{2} \,10^{-5} =4.5\,\,\,10^{-5}\,\,\,N
