A) if energy is being absorbed, then more hydrogen bonds are being broken (melting). If energy is being released, more hydrogen bonds become fixed (freezing).

<span>b) during melting, hydrogen bonds get broken and movement can occur. During freezing, hydrogen bonds become fixed and water molecules cannot move as much.

(a) During melting, energy is absorbed by the reaction, while during freezing, energy is released.

Explanation:

Melting occurs when a solid substance (e.g. ice) turns into liquid state (liquid water). In this process, energy is absorbed by the substance, and this energy is used to break the bonds between the molecules of ice. On the contrary, freezing occurs when the liquid substance (water) turns into solid state (ice). In this case, molecules at the beginning have more energy (they move faster), so energy is released and the molecules become slower (in fact, they do not move freely when they are in solid state).

(b) After melting, particles spread out and move faster, while after freezing, they become more stationary and closer to each other

Explanation:

In a solid, particles are bond together and cannot move freely, but only vibrate around their position. In a liquid,  particles are more free to move since they are not bond, so they are generally farther from each other.

Therefore, after melting (from solid to liquid), particles become more spread out (since in the liquid state they are more free to move), while after freezing (from liquid to solid), the particles come closer together since they are bond to each other and not free to move.

Pendulum A has a bob of mass m hung from the string of length L; pendulum B is identical to A except its bob has the length 2L.
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

f_{B}: f_{A} = \sqrt{\frac{2}{1}}

Explanation:

For pendulum A: Length = L and gravity = g

The frequency of pendulum A is given by

f = \frac{1}{2\pi }\sqrt{\frac{g}{L}}

Here, f is the frequency, L be the length

f_{A} = \frac{1}{2\pi }\sqrt{\frac{g}{L}}     ... (1)

For pendulum B: Length = 2L, gravity = g

The frequency of pendulum B is given by

f_{B} = \frac{1}{2\pi }\sqrt{\frac{g}{2L}}   .... (2)

Divide equation (1) by (2)

f_{B}: f_{A} = \sqrt{\frac{2}{1}}

Area of triangle, ECD
Area, A= 60 square inches
Base, b= 12in
Height, h=?

Note that Area of a triangle = 1/2×b×h
Substitute the values: 60 = 1/2×12×h
60 = 6h
h = 10in

The height is 10in.

Coincidentally, the height of the triangle is also the side of the square.
So side of square, L = 10in

Area of a square = L^2 or Side × Side
Area = 10 × 10
Area = 100 square inches.

The area of the trapezoid = area of square + area of triangle
The are of trapezoid = 100 + 60 inches squared = 160inches squared.

Answer:I had two questions: 1) Shouldnt the equation be : Change of internal energy= Change in Ke or KEi +Ui=KEf+Uf .. I cant seem to understand how the change in KE+ Change in Internal Energy equals 0 2) Also, it has a note which says that if the bullet alone was chosen as a system, then work would be done on it and the heat transfer woudl occur. How would one formulate an equation for this?
