Answer

given,

mass of block = 2.7 kg

speed of block = 1.1 m/s

a) spring compressed to distance of 6 cm or 0.06 m

  using conservation of energy

kinetic energy is converted into spring energy

\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2= \dfrac{1}{2}kx^2

k =\dfrac{ mv^2}{x^2}

k =\dfrac{2.7\times 1.1^2}{0.06^2}

k= 907.5 N/m

b) again using conservation of energy

kinetic energy is converted into spring energy

\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2= \dfrac{1}{2}kx^2

v =\sqrt{\dfrac{kx^2}{m}}

v=\sqrt{\dfrac{907.5\times 0.015^2}{2.7}}

v=\sqrt{0.075625}

v= 0.275 m/s

Which forces are shown on a free body diagram?
notsponge [240]

Answer:

What is a Free Body Diagram?

The free body diagram helps you understand and solve static and dynamic problem involving forces. It is a diagram including all forces acting on a given object without the other object in the system. You need to first understand all the forces acting on the object and then represent these force by arrows in the direction of the force to be drawn.

A magnetic field is directed perpendicular to the plane of a 0.15-m × 0.30-m rectangular coil consisting of 240 loops of wire. T
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

7.344 s

Explanation:

A = 0.15 x 0.3 m^2 = 0.045 m^2

N = 240

e = - 2.5 v

B1 = 0.1 T

B2 = 1.8 T

ΔB = B2 - B1 = 1.8 - 0.1 = 1.7 T

Δt = ?

e = - dФ/dt

e = - N x A x ΔB/Δt

- 2.5 = - 240 x 0.045 x 1.7 / Δt

2.5 = 18.36 / Δt

Δt = 7.344 s

How long must a tow truck apply a force of 600 N to increase the speed of a 1,500 kg car at rest to 2 m/s?
slega [8]

The time the truck must apply the given force to increase its speed to given value is 5 s.

The given parameters;

  • <em>applied force, F = 600 N</em>
  • <em>mass of the truck, m = 1,500 kg</em>
  • <em>speed of the truck, v = 2 m/s</em>

The force applied to the truck is determined by Newton's second law of motion; <em>which states that the force applied to an object is directly proportional to the product of mass and acceleration of the object.</em>

F = ma

F = \frac{mv}{t} \\\\t = \frac{mv}{F} \\\\t = \frac{1500 \times 2}{600} \\\\t = 5 \ s

Thus, the time the truck must apply the given force to increase its speed to given value is 5 s.

Answer:

required distance is 233.35 m

Explanation:

Given the data in the question;

Sound intensity I = 1.62 × 10⁻⁶ W/m²

distance r = 165 m

at what distance from the explosion is the sound intensity half this value?

we know that;

Sound intensity I is proportional to 1/(distance)²

i.e

I ∝ 1/r²

Now, let r² be the distance where sound intensity is half, i.e I₂ = I₁/2

Hence,

I₂/I₁ = r₁²/r₂²

1/2 = (165)²/ r₂²

r₂² = 2 × (165)²

r₂² = 2 × 27225

r₂² = 54450

r₂ = √54450

r₂ = 233.35 m

Therefore, required distance is 233.35 m
