Answer:

35 meters

Explanation:

Data given;

  • Velocity of an object = 5 m/s
  • Time taken = 7 s

We are required to calculate how far the object traveled.

  • We need to know that;

Velocity = Displacement ÷ time

  • Therefore;

Displacement = Velocity × time

                       = 5 m/s × 7 s

                      = 35 m

Therefore; the object traveled 35 meters

3. A rock is placed in a graduated cylinder containing water, and the cylinder is covered to avoid evaporation. The next morning
guajiro [1.7K]

Hi! Some rocks are porous material, like a sponge, with lots of air pockets inside, so they can absorbe water. In this case, the water level dropped 5.65m because tha volume of water went inside the rock filling the air pockets. The water replaced the air, that flowed to the outside water as bubbles and then to the air above the water.

A heat engine: A) converts heat input to an equivalent amount of workB) converts work to an equivalent amount of heat C) takes h
Masja [62]

Answer:

C. Takes heat in, does work, and loses energy heat.

Explanation:

Heat engine is a system makes use of thermal energy (heat) to in order to do mechanical work.

This occurs by converting the heat into mechanical energy. This energy is then used to do work.

The key characteristic of a heat engine is that the substance with which work is done by, goes from a higher temperature to a lower temperature.

Hence, it loses heat as it does work.

What happens when you add heat to an object and when you cool an object
Katena32 [7]
When you heat up an object three things could possibly happen:

i) Increase in temperature of the object. Imagine heating up water, the temperature increases.

ii) Linear Expansion: The object could increase in length. For example if you heat up a steel rod, the length would increase as a result of linear expansion.

iii) Change of State: The object could change from solid state to liquid state or from liquid state to gaseous state, as the case may be. For example heating ice block to liquid water.
