Two blocks of masses 8 kg and 4.3 kg are placed on a horizontal, frictionless surface. A light spring is attached to one of them

, and the blocks are pushed together with the spring between them. A cord holding them together is burned, after which the block of mass 4.3 kg moves to the right with a speed of 6.7 m/s. What is the velocity of other mass in m/s?

Answer:

The velocity of other mass is 3.60 m/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of first block = 8 kg

mass of second block = 4.3 kg

Speed = 6.7 m/s

We need to calculate the speed of first mass

Using conservation of momentum

(m_{1}+m_{2})u=m_{1}v_{1}+m_{2}v_{2}

where, m₁ =mass of first block

m₂ =mass of second block

m₁ =mass of first block

v₂ =speed of second block

Put the value into the formula

8+4.3\times0=8\times v_{1}+4.3\times6.7

v_{1}=\dfrac{-4.3\times6.7}{8}

v_{1}=-3.60\ m/s

Negative sign represent the opposite direction of initial value.

Hence, The velocity of other mass is 3.60 m/s.

Which form of energy does a plant store when light is transformed during photosynthesis into sugars?
AlexFokin [52]

Answer:

C. Chemical energy

Explanation:

The different types of energy listed in this question are:

A) Electrical energy: it is the energy related to the flow of electrical charges (current)

B) Nuclear energy: it is the energy contained in the nuclei of the atoms, and released during nuclear reactions

C) Chemical energy: it is the energy contained in the bonds between molecules, and it is released during chemical reactions

D) Thermal energy: it is the energy associated with the motion of molecules

Photosynthesis is the process that plants use to transform the light energy (coming from the Sun) into chemical energy. In fact, in this process, plants absorb CO2 (from the atmosphere) and solar energy (from the light), and they convert them into sugars (glucose) and oxygen. Therefore, the initial energy coming as solar energy is converted into energy of the bonds of the molecules of glucose (so, chemical energy).

So, the correct option is C).

WILL MARK BRAINLIEST!!! Is string a ferromagnetic material?
Contact [7]

Answer:

See, the string is made of nickel and steel (iron+carbon), materials that are ferromagnetic. That is, a magnet attracts guitar strings. When this ferromagnetic metal vibrates in the magnetic field of the pickup, that disturbs the red field lines which also cross through the coil (not shown).

What average force is required to stop a 980 kg car in 9.0 s if the car is traveling at 91 km/h ?
kozerog [31]
Newton's second law of motion:
F=ma
a =  \frac{v}{t}
You convert from km/h to m/s by dividing by 3.6:
v = 91 \div 3.6
v = 25.3 \:  \frac{m}{s}
Then a is:
a =  \frac{25.3}{9}
a = 2.8  \frac{m}{s {}^{2} }
Then:
F=(980)(2.8)=2744 N

if the Earth's core provides the heat that drives plate tectonics, then what will eventually happen as the Earth's core cools do
Eduardwww [97]
If the Earth's core cools down, then one of the first things that would happen is that plate tectonic activity would slow down. Over time, the Earth would then dry up into this ball of dry soil because the heat of the Earth's core drives water up to the surface. Since the crust would be void of majority of liquid, it would shrink by an unknown amount.
