Separation is when the couple is still married, but not together. To fix their marriage, depending on the issues, may only be taking a break from each other to let time heal. There are other options such as couples therapy, but this will only work if they are both open minded.

Numerous people.... Diabetics who are experiencing nerve degeneration of the extremities (something called Diabetic Neuropathy). Another group would be the elderly, who do loose sensation as age progresses. And lastly those with some sort of paralysis or peripheral nerve damage.
