Separation is when the couple is still married, but not together. To fix their marriage, depending on the issues, may only be taking a break from each other to let time heal. There are other options such as couples therapy, but this will only work if they are both open minded.

A separation is where the couple is still married but aren't together. They could do to couples therapy or surround yourself with people who are in positive realtionships to try to fix it.
