Amelia and Jayden work at a furniture store. Amelia is paid $185 per week plus 9.5% of her total sales in dollars, xx, which can

be represented by g(x)=185+0.095x. Jayden is paid $311 per week plus 8.5% of his total sales in dollars, xx, which can be represented by f(x)=311+0.085x Determine the value of xx, in dollars, that will make their weekly pay the same

Answer:

The weekly sales must be $12,600

Step-by-step explanation:

if their pay is the same, the equations have to be equal

amelia = jayden

185 +.095x = 311 +.085x

subtract  .085x from each side

185 +.095x-.085x = 311 +.085x-.085x

185+.01x = 311

subtract 185 from each side

185-185+.01x = 311-185

.01x = 126

divide by .01

.01x/.01 = 126/.01

x = 12600

Bryan has a square parcel of land that is 120 yards long and 120 yards wide. The land is planted with Bermuda grass and surround
Mekhanik [1.2K]
The diagonal fencing will be the hypotenuse of a right triangle with sides 120yds long so:

h=√2(120^2))

h=√28800 yd

And the surrounding fencing will just be four times the side length of 120yds so:

s=480yd

So the total fencing needed is:

f=480+√28800 yards

f≈649.71 yd (to nearest hundredth of a yard) which is

f≈650 yds (to nearest whole yard)

But, I wasn't sure, if they just want the diagonal fencing needed then it is just:

f=√28800

f≈170 yds  (to nearest yard)

Algebra I

  • Terms/Coefficients
  • Solving systems of equations using substitution/elimination

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define Systems

x - 2y = 12

5x + 3y = -44

Step 2: Rewrite Systems

x - 2y = 12

  1. [Multiplication Property of Equality] Multiply everything by -5:                  -5x + 10y = -60

Step 3: Redefine Systems

-5x + 10y = -60

5x + 3y = -44

Step 4: Solve for y

Elimination

  1. Combine 2 equations:                                                                                   13y = -104
  2. [Division Property of Equality] Divide 13 on both sides: y = -8

Step 5: Solve for x

  1. Define original equation:                                                                               x - 2y = 12
  2. Substitute in y:                                                                                                x - 2(-8) = 12
  3. Multiply:                                                                                                           x + 16 = 12
  4. [Subtraction Property of Equality] Subtract 16 on both sides: x = -4
