Assume you have a U-tube with a semipermeable capillary membrane made of simple squamous epithelium separating the solutions on

either side. Blood will be on the left side of the tube, and watery extracellular fluid (ECF) will be on the right side of the tube. Predict what will occur to the water levels by hydrostatic pressure, the pressure of watery fluid pushing on a boundary.

Answer:

The net movement of water would be a little bit to the left.

The ECF composition compared to blood composition is quite similar. Blood is composed of plasma ( watery extracellular fluid)  + cells + platelets. Due to the composition of blood compared to the ECF, blood would be a hypertonic solution. Whenever there is a semipermeable membrane, water will tend to move to the hypertonic side by osmosis.

Which of the following is a factor that determines the rate of impulse propagation, or conduction velocity, along an axon?a) len
mihalych1998 [28]

Answer:

c) degree of myelination of the axon

Explanation:

The myelin sheath covers many axons in central nervous system (CNS) ( by oligodendrocytes) and in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) (by Schwann cells). Their function is to insulate axons and to increase the speed at which information travels from one nerve cell to another.

Nerve conduction velocity is specific to each individual and depend on the level to which that axon is myelinated, but also on  an axon's diameter.

Jupiter has no _______, while Uranus, with a spin axis tiled 98 degrees, has the most extreme ones.
Kamila [148]

Answer:

The correct answer is

Option C. Season.

Explanation:

Jupiter has no seasons, while Uranus, with a spin axis tiled 98 degrees, has the most extreme ones. Tilting of planets are responsible for season. If there is very low tilting, the seasons are not present. In jupiter the tilting is very low that is 3 degree so that's why jupiter has no seasons. In earth, the seasons are present due to high tilting i. e. 23 degree.
