A spinning wheel on a fireworks display is initially rotating in a counterclockwise direction. The wheel has an angular accelera

tion of -7.80 rad/s2. Because of this acceleration, the angular velocity of the wheel changes from its initial value to a final value of -22.4 rad/s. While this change occurs, the angular displacement of the wheel is zero. (Note the similarity to that of a ball being thrown vertically upward, coming to a momentary halt, and then falling downward to its initial position.) Find the time required for the change in the angular velocity to occur.

Answer:

5.74s

Explanation:

We can first solve for the initial angular velocity using the following formula

\omega^2 - \omega_0^2 = 2\alpha\theta

Where \omega = -22.4rad/s is the final angular velocity, \alpha = -22.4 rad/s^2is the angular acceleration and \theta = 0 is the angular displacement

22.4^2 - \omega_0^2 = 2*(-7.8)*0

\omega_0^2 = 22.4^2

\omega_0 = 22.4rad/s

So for the wheel to get from 22.4 to -22.4 with angular acceleration of -7.8 then the time it takes must be

t = \frac{\Delta \omega}{\alpha} = \frac{-22.4 - 22.4}{-7.8} = 5.74s

A taxi is travelling at 15m/s. Its driver accelerates with acceleration 3m/s^2 for 4 s. What would be the new velocity?..... pls
Aleksandr-060686 [28]

Answer:

27 m/s

Explanation:

Given:

v₀ = 15 m/s

a = 3 m/s²

t = 4 s

Find: v

v = at + v₀

v = (3 m/s²) (4 s) + (15 m/s)

v = 27 m/s

A pendulum has 711 J of potential energy at the highest point of its swing. How much kinetic energy will it have at the bottom o
Anika [276]
According to law of conservation of energy,
<span>Energy can neither be constructed nor be destroyed but can be transformed from one form to another.
</span>
<span>At the highest point of the pendulum(point b), pendulum is associated with potential energy only and no kinetic energy.
</span><span>Therefore total energy at point b = potential energy = 711 J.... i
</span>
<span>At the bottom most point(point a), pendulum is associated only with kinetic energy and no potential energy.
</span>Therefore total energy at point a = kinetic energy ---- ii
<span>From i and ii,
</span>Kinetic energy = potential energy = 711 J.(Conserving energy)

Hence kinetic energy at the bottom most point is 711 J.
Hope this helps!!
