Using the force table, components of a vector can be found experimentally by suspending masses from 2 orthogonal strings which o

ppose the mass and string representing the vector in question. If 155 g is suspended at 210 degrees, what masses must be suspended at 0 degrees and 90 degrees to balance this force.
I think since they're orthogonal, the could be equal masses to each other. Is this even close to being right? If not, how do I start the process of solving the problem?

Answer: 134.23g at 0° (horizontal) and 77.5g at 90° (vertical).

Explanation:

1) Since the mass of 155 g is suspended at 210 degrees, you need to find the components of its weight on the orthogonal coordinate system (0° and 90°).

2) You do that using the trignometric ratios sine and cosine.

Weight is mass × g.

Weight of the object = 155g × g

Angle, α = 210°

Horizontal component (0°)

cosα = horizontal / hypotenuse ⇒ horizontal = hypotenuse × cosα

⇒ horizontal = 155g × g × cos(210°) = - 134.23g × g

Vertical component
sinα = vertical / hypotenuse ⇒ vertical = hypotenuse × sinα
⇒ vertical = 155g × g × sin(210°) = -77.5g × g

3) Conclusion:

Therefore, the masses that must be suspended to balance the forces of the 155g mass are 134.23g at 0° (horizontal) and 77.5g at 90° (vertical).

A toy doll and a toy robot are standing on a frictionless surface facing each other. The doll has a mass of 0.2 kg, and the robo
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:

1.43m/s²

Explanation:

According to newtons second law.

F = mass * acceleration

If the doll has a mass of 0.2 kg, and the robot has a mass of 0.5 kg, the resulting mass will be 0.7kg

Force applied = 1N

acceleration = Force/mass

Substitute the values and get acceleration

acceleration = 1/0.7

acceleration = 1.43m/s²

Hence the magnitude of the acceleration of the robot is 1.43m/s²

Natalka [10]

Answer:

-10.8m/s^2

Explanation:

a=change in velocity/change in time

-27 m/s/2.5=10.8m/s^2

or if its not negative

27m/s/2.5=10.8m/s^2

Suppose a capacitor is fully charged by a battery and then disconnected from the battery. The positive plate has a charge +q and
dimaraw [331]

Answer:-q

Explanation:

Given

Capacitor is charged to a battery and capacitor acquired a charge of q i.e.

+q on Positive Plate and -q on negative Plate.

If the plate area is doubled and the plate separation is reduced to half its initial separation then capacitor becomes four times of initial value because capacitor is given by

c=\epsilon_0 \cdot \frac{A}{d}

where A=area of capacitor plate

d=Separation between plates

This change in capacitance changes the Potential such that new charge on the negative plate will remain same -q

You're driving down the highway late one night at 16.0 m/s when a deer steps onto the road 39.0 m in front of you. your reaction
choli [55]
The breaking distance consists of two parts. The first part is the first 0.5 seconds were no breaking occurs. Given values: t time, v₀ initial velocity:
x₁ = v₀*t
The second part occurs after t = 0,5s with the given acceleration: a = - 12 m/s²
were the final velocity is zero, v = 0 and the initial velocity v₀= 16m/s:
v = a*t + v₀ = 0 => v₀ = -a*t => t = v₀/-a

x₂ = 0.5*a*t² = 0.5*v°²/a

The total breaking distance is the sum of the two parts:
x = x₁ + x₂ = v₀* t + 0.5 * v₀² / a = 16 * 0.5 + 0.5 * 16² / 12 = 8 + 10,7 = 18,7

You can use this result to calculate the remaining distance. You can use the last equation to calculate the maximum speed you could have to avoid a collision.
Use x = 39m and solve for v₀.
