Answer:

H₂ has a non-polar covalent bond.

Explanation:

First, remember that a covalent bond occurs when two atoms with zero or very low difference of electronegativity share one or more pair of electrons, that's why <u>covalent bonds are very common  between atoms of the same elements</u>, for example in the case of H₂, where the difference of electronegativity is zero.

Also, covalent bonds are non-polar when the atoms in the bond has the same electronegativity so the electronic density is symmetric distributed.

The molecule that has those characteristics is the molecule of Hydrogen (H₂) so it has a non-polar covalent bond.

On the other side, the molecule of water (H₂O) has covalent bond between hydrogen and oxygen atoms but the oxigen atom has 2 pairs of non bonded electrons that creates a zone with high electronic density making this molecule polar (you can see those pair of non bonded electrons in red in the attachment).

Finally, the molecule of chloride sodium (NaCl) is a type of ionic bond.

Answer:D

Explanation: NaCl is an ionic bond which makes it polar. A polar molecule consists of atoms having either a positive or negative bond. Polar molecular bonds consist of atoms having a partial positive or partial negative charge, as molecular bonds usually only consist of nonmetals. However, ionic bonds are always polar.

How many grams of O2(g) are needed to completely burn 46.0 g C3H8(g)?
Veronika [31]

Answer:

167,3 grams of O2 (g)

Explanation:

According to the following balanced equation:

C3H8 + 5 02 ---> 3 CO2 + 4 H20

We calculate the mass of the moles:

5 mol O2 = 16grams/mol x2x 5= 160 grams/mol

1 mol C3H8= 3 x12 grams/mol + 8 x 1 gram/mol= 44 grams/mol

If 44 grams C3H8 react with--------- 160 grams O2

46 gramsC3H8 react with    --------X = (46x160)/44 =167, 3 grams O2

In a particular mass of kau(cn)2, there are 6.66 × 1020 atoms of gold. What is the total number of atoms in this sample?
Vinvika [58]

Total number of atoms in the sample is the sum of number of atoms of all the elements present in the sample.

Number of gold, Au atoms in KAu(CN)_2 = 6.66\times 10^{20} atoms     (given)

From the formula of compound that is KAu(CN)_2 it is clear that the number of potassium and gold are same whereas those of carbon and nitrogen are 2 times of them.

So, the number of atoms of each element is:

Number of potassium, K atoms in KAu(CN)_2 = 6.66\times 10^{20} atoms

Number of carbon, C atoms in KAu(CN)_2 = 2\times6.66\times 10^{20} atoms = 13.32\times 10^{20}

Number of nitrogen, N atoms in KAu(CN)_2 = 2\times6.66\times 10^{20} atoms = 13.32\times 10^{20}

Total number of atoms in KAu(CN)_2 = Number of gold, Au atoms+Number of potassium, K atoms +Number of carbon, C atoms + Number of nitrogen, N atoms

Total number of atoms in KAu(CN)_2 = 6.66\times 10^{20}+6.66\times 10^{20}+13.32\times 10^{20}+13.32\times 10^{20}

Total number of atoms in KAu(CN)_2 = 39.96\times 10^{20} atoms

Hence, the total number of atoms in KAu(CN)_2 is 3.996\times 10^{21} atoms.
