Answer:

260 km

65 km/hr

Explanation:

The displacement of an object is the distance moved by that object in a particular direction.

velocity = displacement / time, therefore,

Displacement = velocity * time.

Total displacement for the 4 HR trip = displacement for 2.5 hr + displacement for 1.5 hr

total displacement = (80 * 2.5) + (40 * 1.5)

Total displacement = 200 + 60

Total displacement = 260 Km

average velocity for the total trip = total displacement / total time taken

average velocity = 260 km/ 4 hr

average velocity = 65 km/hr

Why would north america will not be able to view the eclipse
Flauer [41]

The North America will not be able to view the eclipse because of its location on the earth caused by the tilting of the earth.

Effect of tilting of the Earth

The tilt of the Earth is what causes seasons to occur. These are the seasons in relation to the Northern Hemisphere.

The tilting of the Earth causes the difference in the amount of sun reaching each region of the earth like in the North America continent.

Thus, the North America will not be able to view the eclipse because of its location on the earth caused by the tilting of the earth.

The coefficient of friction is missing and it has a value of μ = 0.4

Answer:

a = 3.924 m/s²

Explanation:

I've attached the kinematic free body diagram.

Taking the sum of all upward and downward forces,

EFy = 0;

N1 + N2 - m_p•g - m_v•g = 0

N1 + N2 = m_p•g + m_v•g

Where;

N1 and N2 are the normal reactions at the wheels

m_p is the mass of the driver

m_v is the mass of the vehicle

g is the acceleration due to gravity.

Plugging in the relevant values in the question,we obtain;

N1 + N2 = (385 + 75) x 9.81

N1 + N2 = 4512.6N - - - (eq1)

Now, taking sum of all horizontal forces;

EFx = (m_p + m_v) x a

So,

μ(N1 + N2) = (mp + mv) x a

Thus,

0.4(N1 + N2) = (385 + 75)a

0.4(N1 + N2) = 460a

N1 + N2 = 1150a

From eq(1),N1 + N2 = 4512.6N

Thus,

1150a = 4512.6N

a = 4512.6/1150

a = 3.924 m/s²

Therefore, the acceleration, a = 3.924 m/s²

Two linear polarizing filters are placed one behind the other so that their transmission directions form an angle of 45 ° . A be
makvit [3.9K]

The transmitted intensity will be the quarter of the incident intensity of light, (I = 0.25 I₀), when two linear polarizing filters are placed one behind the other forming the angle of 45°.

Explanation:

Polarizers are used for constraining the direction of propagation of light waves. So depending upon the angle of polarizer, the transmitted rays will follow that angle only and the remaining lights waves at different angles will be reflected back. So basically it works like a filter or optical filters.

So, the transmitted intensity will be less compared to the original intensity of light as the beam will get confined in a particular angle.

The relation between transmitted intensity and incident intensity is given by Malus's law.

I = { \frac {I_{0}} {2}} \times cos^{2} \alpha

Here, I is the transmitted intensity, I₀ is the incident intensity and α is the angle of the polarizer.

In the present case, two polarizers are used with same angle, so the first one termed as polarizer, while the second one will be termed as analyzer. The angle which is used to polarize the intensity of the incident beam is the angle of 45°.

Then, according to Malus's law,

I = I₀ cos² 45 = (I₀/2)×(1/√2)² = I₀/4 = 0.25\ I_0

So, the transmitted intensity will be the quarter of the incident intensity of light, (I = 0.25 I₀), when two linear polarizing filters are placed one behind the other forming the angle of 45°.
