A 2.45-kg frictionless block is attached to an ideal spring with force constant 355 N/m. Initially the spring is neither stretch

ed nor compressed, but the block is moving in the negative direction at 11.0 m/s.
A. Find the amplitude of the motion.
B. Find the maximum acceleration of the block.
C. Find the maximum force the spring exerts on the block.

Answer:

A.    A = 0.913 m

B.    amax = 132.24m/s^2

C.    Fmax = 324.01N

Explanation:

When the block is moving at the equilibrium point , its velocity is maximum.

A. To find the amplitude of the motion you use the following formula for the maximum velocity:

v_{max}=A\omega          (1)

vmax = maximum velocity = 11.0 m/s

A: amplitude of the motion = ?

w: angular frequency = ?

Then, you have to calculate the angular frequency of the motion, by using the following formula:

\omega=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}}           (2)

k: spring constant = 355 N/m

m: mass of the object = 2.54 kg

\omega = \sqrt{\frac{355N/m}{2.45kg}}=12.03\frac{rad}{s}

Next, you solve the equation (1) for A and replace the values of vmax and w:

A=\frac{v}{\omega}=\frac{11.0m/s}{12.03rad/s}=0.913m

The amplitude of the motion is 0.913m

B. The maximum acceleration of the block is given by:

a_{max}=A\omega^2 = (0.913m)(12.03rad/s)^2=132.24\frac{m}{s^2}

The maximum acceleration is 132.24 m/s^2

C. The maximum force is calculated by using the second Newton law and the maximum acceleration:

F_{max}=ma_{max}=(2.45kg)(132.24m/s^2)=324.01N

It is also possible to calculate the maximum force by using:

Fmax = k*A = (355N/m)(0.913m) = 324.01N

The maximum force exertedbu the spring on the object is 324.01 N

A sound from a source has an intensity of 270 db when it is 1 m from the source. what is the intensity of the sound when it is 3
Lina20 [59]
Sound intensity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the source and the receiver.
That is
I = k/r^2
 where
 k = constant
 r = radius

When r=1,  the intensity is I₁ = k/1 = k
When r=3, the intensity I₂ = k/3² = k/9
Therefore
 I₂ = I₁ /9

In decibels,
I = 10 log₁₀(I/I₀)
where I₀ = reference intensity

When r=1,
10 log₁₀ (I₁/I₀) = 270

When r =3,
10 log₁₀ (I₂/I₀) = 10 log₁₀ [(I₂/I₁)*(I₁/I₀)]
                     = 10 log₁₀ [(1/9)*(I₁/I₀)]
                     = 10 log₁₀(1/9) + 270
                     = 260.5

romanna [79]

Answer:

a) t = 0.25 s,  b)  x = 0.075 m

Explanation:

a) For this exercise we will use kinematic relationships in one dimension

         v = v₀ + a t

in the problem they indicate the initial velocity v₀ = 0.15 m / s, the final velocity v = 0.45 m / s and the acceleration of the squid a = 1.2 m / s²

          t = \frac{v -v_o}{a}

we calculate

         t = \frac{0.45 - 0.15}{1.2}

         t = 0.25 s

b) We can also find the distance traveled during this acceleration

         v² = v₀² + 2a x

         x = \frac{v^2 -v_o^2 }{2a}

let's calculate

         x = \frac{0.45^2 - 0.15^2 }{2 \  1.2}

         x = 0.075 m

Briefly describe factors and characteristics that influence conflict resolution.
Reptile [31]

Answer:

Personal attitudes play a role in conflict resolution and include prejudices, biases, prior experience, and the level of importance of a topic to the parties involved. It is important to note that you can control your own attitude, but you cannot control the attitudes of others; it is necessary to focus on your attitudes and assumptions before you address the other party's. Next, you need to know what the nature of the conflict is, or what the conflict is about. It is necessary to know how severe the conflict is, how easily it can be resolved, how much sacrifice it will take to overcome, and how heated it is likely to get. Lastly, one needs to understand the capabilities of the people involved. Is everyone on the same level and do they have what they need to work on the conflict, i.e. money, time, and support?
