Smaller mammals use proportionately more energy than larger mammals; that is, it takes more energy per gram to power a mouse tha

n a human. A typical mouse has a mass of 20 g and, at rest, needs to consume 3.0 Cal each day for basic body processes.
1. If a 68 {\rm kg} human used the same energy per {\rm kg} of body mass as a mouse, how much energy would be needed each day?
2. What resting power does this correspond to?
3. How much greater is this than the resting power noted in the chapter?

Answer:

Part 1)

E = 10200 Cal per day

Explanation:

Part 1)

Small mouse used the energy of 3 Cal

mass of the mouse = 20 g

so energy used per day per unit of mass is given as

E = \frac{3 cal}{20 g}

E = 0.15 Cal/g

E = 150 Cal/kg

Now for a person of mass 68 kg the energy is

E_o = m \times E

E_o = 68(150)

E_o = 10200 Cal per day

Part 2)

Resting power means the rate of energy consumed by the body while we are not doing any work and all that energy is consumed for several biological process.

A parallel plate capacitor fully charged to voltage V is connected to the battery (the voltage on the plates remains fixed). If
Papessa [141]

Charge will decreases.

A parallel plate capacitor when it is fully charged to voltage V is given as:

                    C = Q/V

The capacitance of parallel plate capacitor with two plates of Area A separated by distance d and no dielectric material between plates is

                    C = ε₀ A /d

since from above equation it shows C is proportional to Q and also C is inversely proportional to distance d.

So, ATQ when d increases C will decrease which in result decreases charge on the capacitor.

Thus,  Charge will decrease.

What is the volume of a cone with a height of 27 cm
JulijaS [17]

Explanation:

→ Volume of cone = πr² × h/3

Here,

  • Radius (r) = 13 cm
  • Height (h) = 27 cm

→ Volume of cone = π(13)² × 27/3 cm³

→ Volume of cone = 169π × 9 cm³

→ Volume of cone = 1521π cm³

→ Volume of cone = 1521 × 22/7 cm³

→ Volume of cone = 33462/7 cm³

→ <u>Volume of cone = 4780.28 cm³</u>

A bat can detect small objects, such as an insect, whose size is approximately equal to one wavelength of the sound the bat make
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

6.136 mm

Explanation:

given,

frequency emitted by the bat = 5.59 x 10⁴ Hz

speed of sound = 343 m/s

smallest insect bat can hear  will be equal to the wavelength  of the sound the bat make.

\lambda = \dfrac{v}{f}

\lambda = \dfrac{343}{5.59\times 10^4}

\lambda = 6.136\times 10^{-3}}

λ = 6.136 mm

so, the smallest size of insect that bat can hear is equal to 6.136 mm
