(a) The speed at 5 s is 49 m/s.

(b) The distance travelled by the bowling ball at 32 m/s is 52.24m.

<u>Explanation:</u>

As the ball is released from the top of the building, it will be exhibiting free fall. So the acceleration due to gravity will be acting upon the bowling ball.

As per the equations of motion, the velocity can be determined for a particular time if we know the initial speed, acceleration and time.

With the help of first equation of motion,

v = u +at

So u =0, a = 9.8 m/s^{2}, t = 5 s

So, v = 0 + (9.8×5)=49 m/s

Thus, the speed at 5 s is 49 m/s.

When it is moving at a speed of 32 m/s, then the distance travelled by the ball is

2as = v^{2}-u^{2}

Since u =0 and v = 32 m/s with a = 9.8, then

s=\frac{v^{2}-u^{2}}{2 a}=\frac{32^{2}-0^{2}}{2 \times 9.8}=\frac{1024}{19.6}=52.24 \mathrm{m}

So the distance travelled is 52.24 m.

If a ball takes 12 seconds to hit the ground, how fast was it falling when it hit the ground?
Maru [420]

Answer:

Roughly around 117.6 mph

Explanation

To find out something's speed (or velocity) after a certain amount of time, you just multiply the acceleration of gravity by the amount of time since it was let go of. So you get: velocity = -9.81 m/s^2 * time, or V = gt. The negative sign just means that the object is moving downwards.

Where in the world does average daily temperature exceed the annual temperature range?
padilas [110]
The average daily annual temperature range is exceeded in places such as deserts. Deserts tend to be hotter due to the lack of water contained within them. This means that all of the sun's thermal radiation heats up the ground and air. These factors cause deserts to have above average temperatures.

In a nuclear power plant, the temperature of the water in the reactor is above 100°C because of what?
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

The temperature of the water increases because the nuclear reactor heats it producing steam

Explanation:

The nuclear power plants are usually defined as those thermal plants where the nuclear reactors are used in order to generate heat that eventually leads to the rotating of the turbines and produces electricity. Here the nuclear reactor heats the water, and it increases above a temperature of 100°C, where this heat energy plays a key role in the entire process. It is an efficient method as it does not lead to the emission of any green house gases that are harmful to the environment.
