A magnetic field is a force field, invisibly pushing electrically charged objects just as a gravitational field pulls objects with mass. Whereas all objects with mass exert a gravitational field, however, not all objects have a magnetic field. Magnetic fields are created by electrical charges. Thanks to their structure at the atomic level, some substances -- like the iron in magnets -- have a permanent magnetic field.

Zero field spot for opposite unequal charges
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer:

The zero field location has to be on the line running between the two point charges because that's the only place where the field vectors could point in exactly opposite directions. It can't be between the two opposite charges because there the field vectors from both charges point toward the negative charge.

Can the kinetic energy of an object be negative? Can the potential energy of an object be negative? Can a potential energy funct
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

Kinetic energy cannot be negative

potential energy is a reference dependent quantity and it can be positive as well as negative both

Since potential energy is defined only for conservative force so it can not be found for friction force

Explanation:

Kinetic energy of an object is given by the formula

KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^2

here we know that

m = mass of object that can not be negative

v = speed of the object and since its square is given here so it can not be negative

so Kinetic energy is always positive

potential energy is given as the energy due to the virtue of the position of object

so it is

\Delta U = -\int F.dr

so potential energy is a reference dependent quantity and it can be positive as well as negative both

Since potential energy is defined only for conservative force so it can not be found for friction force

You observe a hockey puck of mass 0.12 kg, traveling across the ice at speed 18.3 m/sec. The interaction of the puck and the ice
Galina-37 [17]

The stopping distance is 143.1 m

Explanation:

First of all, we have to find the acceleration of the hockey puck. This can be done by using Newton's second law of motion:

\sum F =ma

where

\sum F = F_f = -0.14 N is the net force acting on the puck (the force of friction, negative because it acts in a direction opposite to the direction of motion)

m = 0.12 kg is the mass of the puck

a is the acceleration

Solving for a,

a=\frac{\sum F}{m}=\frac{-0.14}{0.12}=-1.17 m/s^2

The motion of the puck is a uniformly accelerated motion, therefore we can use the following suvat equation:

v^2-u^2=2as

where:

v = 0 is the final velocity (the puck comes to a stop)

u = 18.3 m/s is the initial velocity

a=-1.17 m/s^2 is the acceleration

s is the stopping distance

And solving for s, we find

s=\frac{v^2-u^2}{2a}=\frac{0-(18.3)^2}{2(-1.17)}=143.1 m

Identify a true statement about flow separation. Multiple Choice A. Flow separation is caused due to high temperature gradient i
Helga [31]

Answer:

D. Flow separation is caused due to adverse pressure gradient in the flowing fluid.

Explanation:

Flow separation  :

  When adverse pressure gradient become dominate then phenomenon of flow separation occurs.In the other words when boundary layer is form against the adverse pressure then  phenomenon of flow separation occurs.The adverse pressure means a opposing which act in the opposite to the direction of fluid flow.Due to flow separation eddy formation occurs and these eddy leads to increases the losses in the fluid flow.Due to flow separation fluid leaves the solid surface and form eddies.

So the answer is D.
