Igneous rocks are rocks that forms from the solidification of magma either on the earth surface or beneath surface.

Those that forms on the surface are called volcanic rocks

Those that forms beneath are called plutonic rocks.

When magma forms within the surface, it cools and solidifies slowly. This will allow crystals to grow slowly. Therefore, the crystals will have a big size in the rock. The texture of the rock is now said to be coarse grained.

Those that forms on the surface cool rapidly and the minerals are fine grained. This is the case with X
