Describe what would happen to the volume of a balloon if it were submerged in hot water

Well, I'm not sure.

When you heat the gas inside the balloon, the pressure
inside it increases.  So you would think right away that the
balloon would get bigger.

BUT ... the pressure under water is greater than the pressure was
in air.  So if the pressure inside the balloon doesn't increase enough
to compensate for the increased pressure outside of it, then it will
actually get smaller.

I guess it depends on HOW hot it gets, and on HOW deep you
submerge it.

Thinking about this gives me an idea for a neat experiment that I might
try some time:

Just take an small inflated balloon to someplace where you have a
substantial depth of water available, like to the lake or a swimming pool.
Then submerge it.  The pressure under water changes pretty fast as you
go deeper ... at 33 feet, it's double the normal atmospheric pressure.
So maybe, as you move the balloon up and down under water, you might
be able to actually see it get bigger and smaller !

You don't want to use too big of a balloon.  If it's only 1 cubic foot,
then in order to submerge it completely, you have to pull it down
with 63 pounds of force !  To submerge a bigger balloon, you'd
need to pull it down even harder.

What are the similarities and differences between meiosis and mitosis?
valentinak56 [21]

Answer: They both produce new cells, and start both with a single parent cell for similarities. For differences, Meiosis has only 8 stages in total, while mitosis is 4 stages in total. And for the Meiosis, it produces 4 haploid cells, and mitosis, only produces 2 haploid cells. These are the similarities and differences.

Hope this helped!

Vinvika [58]

Answer:

149,700,000 km   (= 1.50 x 10⁸ km)

Explanation:

Given,

Speed of light, c = 300,000 km/s

Time Taken = 8 min 19 s = 499 seconds

Recall, Distance = Speed x Time

= 300,000 km/s   x 499 s

= 149,700,000 km

= 1.50 x 10⁸ km

Emmett is lifting a box vertically. Which forces are necessary for calculating the total force?
GrogVix [38]

When Emmett is lifting a box vertically, the forces that must be added to calculate the total force are: the gravitational force, tension force(the force exerted by Emmett to the box and the force exerted by the box to Emmett), and air resistance force.

What will be the density of the air if the radius of the cylinder is halved while the length is unchanged?
pickupchik [31]

If the radius of the cylinder is halved and length is kept unchanged then the density of air inside the cylinder will increase.

As it can be said that density is inversely proportion to the square of the radius.

Density of Cylinder

Density is the ratio of mass to volume.

The formula for density is: ρ= m/v.

The formula for the Mean Density of a cylinder is:

                                         ρ= m/ (π•r²•h)

where:

ρ is the density of the cylinder

m is the mass of the cylinder

h is the height of the cylinder

So, with increase in radius the of the cylinder there is decrease in the density of cylinder.

And on decreasing the radius of the cylinder there is increase in the density of the cylinder.

As it can be said that density is inversely proportion to the square of the radius.
