Interactive Solution 22.61 offers one approach to problems such as this one. The secondary coil of a step-up transformer provide

s the voltage that operates an electrostatic air filter. The turns ratio of the transformer is 44:1. The primary coil is plugged into a standard 120-V outlet. The current in the secondary coil is 1.9 x 10-3 A. Find the power consumed by the air filter.

Answer:

10.03watts

Explanation:

Formula for calculating power is the product of the current and the voltage in a circuit i.e Power = Current (I) × Voltage (V)

Since the secondary coil of a step-up transformer provides the voltage that operates an electrostatic air filler, therefore the power consumed by the air filter will be the power in the secondary coil of the transformer.

We will use the transformer formula below to calculate the current and voltage in the secondary coil.

Ns/Np = Vs/Vp = Ip/Is where;

Ns/Np is the turn ratio of the transformer = 44/1

Vs is the voltage in the secondary coil

Vp is the voltage in the primary coil = 120V

Is is the current in the secondary coil = 1.9×10^-3A

Ip is the current in the primary coil

Power consumed by the secondary coil= IsVs

To get Vs using the relationship

Ns/Np = Vs/Vp

44/1 = Vs/120

Cross multiplying;

Vs = 120×44

Vs = 5280volts

Since Is = 1.9×10^-3A

Power consumed by the secondary coil= 1.9×10^-3A × 5280

= 10.03Watts

Since the power consumed by the secondary coil is 10.03watts, therefore the power consumed by the air filter is 10.03watts.

A motorcycle is capable of accelerating at 5.1 m/s starting feom rest how far can it travel im 1.5 seconds
saul85 [17]

5.1 m/ s

~Multiply 1.5 on both sides since you’re trying to finding out how far it can travel in 1.5 seconds

5.1 x 1.5= 7.65

s x 1.5= 1.5

So a motorcycle can travel 7.65 m in 1.5 seconds.

What is the frequency of light for which the wavelength is 7.1 × 102 nm?
Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

Frequency, f=4.22\times 10^{14}\ Hz

Explanation:

Given that,

Wavelength of the light,

\lambda=7.1\times 10^2\ nm=7.1\times 10^2\times 10^{-9}\ m\\\\\lambda=7.1\times 10^{-7}\ m

We need to find the frequency of light. We know that light is an electromagnetic wave. It moves with the speed of light. So,

c=f\lambda

f is the frequency of light

f=\dfrac{c}{\lambda}\\\\f=\dfrac{3\times 10^8\ m/s}{7.1\times 10^{-7}\ m}\\\\f=4.22\times 10^{14}\ Hz

So, the frequency of light is 4.22\times 10^{14}\ Hz. Hence, this is the required solution.

Venus has an average distance to the sun of 0.723 AU. In two or more complete sentences, explain how to calculate the orbital pe
Mice21 [21]

As per the question the distance of venus from sun is given as 0.723 AU

We have been asked to calculate the time period of the planet venus.

As per kepler's laws of planetary motion the square of time period of planet is directly proportional to the cube of semi major axis. mathematically

                                        T^{2} \alpha R^{3}

                                         ⇒ T^{2} = KR^{3} where is k is the proportionality  constant

We may solve this problem by comparing with the time period of the earth . We know that time period of earth is 365.5 days

Hence T_{1} =365.5 days

The distance of sun from earth is taken as 1 AU i.e the mean distance of earth from sun

Hence R_{1} =1 AU

The distance of venus from sun is 0.723 AU i.eR_{2} =0.723

From keplers law we know that-\frac{T_{1} ^{2} }{T_{2} ^{2} } =\frac{R_{1} ^{3} }{R_{2} ^{3} }

                            ⇒T_{2} ^{2} =T_{1} ^{2} *\frac{R_{2} ^{3} }{R_{1} ^{3} }

Putting the values mentioned above we get-

                                      T_{2} ^{2} =50,350.132851075

                                         ⇒ T_{2} =\sqrt{50,350.132851075}

                                        ⇒T_{2} = 224.388352752710 days.

Hence the time period of venus is 224.388352752710 days
