Answer : The Correct answer is Tellurium ( Te)

In the compound Rb₂X , Rb is Rubidium which belongs from s block and group 1. Also its electronic configuration is [Kr] 5s¹ , which suggest that oxidation state of Rb is +1 . Since there are two Rb atoms present so total positive charge is +2 .

The compound is neutral means it has zero total charge so total negative charge is -2 . Also the there is one atom of X , so oxidation state of X must be -2 . Element with -2 oxidation state belong to oxygen family or group 16 . Electronic configuration of oxygen family ends with ns² np⁴ , means if the element accommodate 12 electrons , the configuration will become ns² np⁶ nd⁴ , which in turn says that element should have d orbitals .

Oxygen and sulfur belongs to period 2 and 3 respectively so they cannot have d orbital . Tellurium belongs to period 5 ( same period of Rb), it can extend its configuration to d orbital . So the X element can be "Tellurium " (Te) .

Croquet balls must have a mass of 0.50 kg. A red croquet ball, moving at 10
julsineya [31]

The final speed of the green ball : 8.5 m/s

Further explanation

Given

mass of Croquet ball = 0.5 kg

v₁= 10 m/s

v₁'= 1.5 m/s

Required

the final speed

Solution

The law of conservation of momentum

m₁v₁ + m₂v₂ = m₁v₁ '+ m₂v₂' (1=red croquet ball, 2=green croquet ball)

v₂=0 (at rest)

Input the value :

\tt 0.5\times 10+0.5\times 0=0.5\times 1.5+0.5\times v_2'\\\\5=0.75+0.5v_2\\\\4.25=0.5v_2\rightarrow v_2=8.5~m/s

How did the mass change when the copper coin was made to look silver?
il63 [147K]

We have that The the mass change when the copper coin was made to look silver is an increase in mass

Correct option C

It increased.

It is important to note that the copper coin after its cutting into shape will have a specific mass or weight and the silver coating solution will also have a net value of mass or weight

Therefore

The the mass change when the copper coin was made to look silver is an increase in mass

Correct option C

It increased.
