A two-fluid heat exchanger has inlet and outlet temperatures of 65 and 40 degree C for the hot fluid and 15 and 30 degree C for

the cold fluid. Can you tell whether this exchanger is operating under counterflow or parallel-flow conditions? Determine the effectiveness of the heat exchanger.

Answer:

 Parallel flow

\epsilon =0.5

Explanation:

Given that

For hot fluid

Inlet temperature=65 C

Outlet temperature=40 C

For cold fluid

Inlet temperature=15 C

Outlet temperature=30 C

Here is only temperature is given and did not provide the information about heat capacity of fluids so by only seeing temperature we can not predict the types of heat exchanger. But there is not too much difference in temperature of exits fluids so we can say that this is parallel flow heat exchanger.

Effectiveness of heat exchanger given as

\epsilon =\dfrac{\Delta T}{\Delta T_{max}}

\epsilon =\dfrac{65-40}{65-15}

 \epsilon =0.5

Aliun [14]

Answer:

The lift coefficient is 0.3192 while that of the moment about the leading edge is-0.1306.

Explanation:

The Upper Surface Cp is given as

Cp_u=-0.8 *0.6 +0.1 \int\limits^1_{0.6} \, dx =-0.8*0.6+0.4*0.1

The Lower Surface Cp is given as

Cp_l=-0.4 *0.6 +0.1 \int\limits^1_{0.6} \, dx =-0.4*0.6+0.4*0.1

The difference of the Cp over the airfoil is given as

\Delta Cp=Cp_l-Cp_u\\\Delta Cp=-0.4*0.6+0.4*0.1-(-0.8*0.6-0.4*0.1)\\\Delta Cp=-0.4*0.6+0.4*0.1+0.8*0.6+0.4*0.1\\\Delta Cp=0.4*0.6+0.4*0.2\\\Delta Cp=0.32

Now the Lift Coefficient is given as

C_L=\Delta C_p cos(\alpha_i)\\C_L=0.32\times cos(4*\frac{\pi}{180})\\C_L=0.3192

Now the coefficient of moment about the leading edge is given as

C_M=-0.3*0.4*0.6-(0.6+\dfrac{0.4}{3})*0.2*0.4\\C_M=-0.1306

So the lift coefficient is 0.3192 while that of the moment about the leading edge is-0.1306.

I need answer to this question
blagie [28]

Answer:

1. Graph C

2. Friction

Explanation:

1. The line on all of the graphs shown represents velocity. The formula for velocity is v=\frac{d}{t} where d is distance and t is time. Focusing on the first lap, the starting point on the graph should be the origin and the "ending" point should be (20, 3). These requirements eliminate graph A as an answer because its "end" is not (20, 3). During the break, the student does not move, so the slope of the line should be completely horizontal. The break lasted for 5 minutes, so the correct graph should have a horizontal line between the points (20, 3) and (25, 3). This requirement eliminates graph B and D because their break is either not long enough (B) or too long (D).

2. Friction slows down the movement of objects. When an object is rough, it produces more friction which causes the object to be slowed more. When an object is smooth, friction slows it less than it would for a rough object.

BaLLatris [955]

Question

Determine the minimum hole diameter for the spring to operate in

Answer:

11 mm

Explanation:

Mean spring coil diameter is given from the following relationship

D=cd where C is spring index and d is the diameter of oil-tempered wire

By substitution

D=10*1 mm=10 mm

To find the outer diameter, we add the d to D hence getting the minimum hole diameter as

D_o= D+d= 10 mm+1 mm= 11 mm
