A container of water, diameter 12 cm, has a small opening near the bottom that can be unplugged so that the water can run out. I

f the top of the tank is open to the atmosphere, what is the exit speed of the water leaving through the hole. The water level is 15 cm above the bottom of the container. The center of the 3.0 diameter hole is 4.0 cm from the bottom. How long does it take the water to hit the ground? How far from the container will the water land?

Answer:

1.32 m

Explanation:

from the given figure we can find the velocity at the hole in the container

let it be v and we know that

then v= \sqrt{2gh}

h= 15-4= 11 cm , g=9.81

v= \sqrt{2(9.81)(11)}

v=14.69 m/s

now using

s=ut+0.5at^2

t= is the time required by water to reach bottom of the container

u = velocity in vertical direction is zero.

therefore,

0.04= 0\times t+\frac{1}{2}\times9.81\times t^2

t= 0.09030 sec

let x be the distance far from the container will the water land

x=vt

x=14.69×0.09030 = 1.32 m

Which component of magma includes mobile ions of silicon?
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

Melt.

Explanation:

When rocks melt, they do so slowly and gradually because most rocks are made of several minerals, which all have different melting points; moreover, the physical and chemical relationships controlling the melting are complex. As a rock melts, for example, its volume changes. When enough rock is melted, the small globules of melt link up and soften the rock.

Under normal conditions, mantle rock like peridotite shouldn't melt in the Earth's upper mantle. However, by adding water you can lower the melting point of the rock. Alternatively, by decompressing the rock, you can bring it to a pressure where the melting point is lower. In both cases, basalt magma will form and considering it is hotter and less dense than the surrounding rock, it will percolate towards the surface and some of that erupts.

explain how a large force is exerted on a passenger in a vehicle in the event of a car crash and how this can be reduced.
xeze [42]
Using idea of conservation of impulse-momentum theorem, the instantaneous velocity times mass is equal to force times the change in time.

mv = Ft

To reduce the force, decrease the velocity and mass. You can also extend the time of the collision. This is why cars collapse on impact. They were design that way to reduce the force on the car and the passenger.

Hopes this helps!
