Answer:

$2.24 / lb

Step-by-step explanation:

$1 = 100 cents

16 oz = 1 lb

14 cents/oz *\frac{1 dollar}{100 cents}*\frac{16oz}{1lb}

Simplified,

\frac{14 *16}{100}

\frac{224}{100} = $2.24/ lb

<h3>The answer that goes in the blank is 2.24     </h3>

==================================================

Explanation:

There are various was to do this. One way is using what some math books may call the "rail road tracks method". If you look below at the attached image (specifically figure 1), you'll probably see why the method is called this. The black straight lines form a "railroad" track of sort

The first column has "14 cents" over "1 ounce" to represent "14 cents per ounce".

The next column over has "16 ounces" over "1 pound". This is used to help convert from ounces to pounds. Recall that 1 pound = 16 ounces.

Finally, the last column has "1 dollar" over "100 cents", which is handy to convert from cents to dollars.

Figure 1 of the attached image is the original setup. Figure 2 is where I've crossed off the units that cancel out. What's left over are "dollars" over "pounds" which is what we want of having "dollars per pound" as the final unit.

--------------

Across the top row, multiply the values out: 14*16*1 = 224

Do the same for the bottom row: 1*1*100 = 100

Then divide the two results: 224/100 = 2.24

--------------

Therefore, 14 cents per ounce converts to 2.24 dollars per pound.

A lawn mower is pushed a distance of 100 ft. Along a horizontal path by a constant force of 60 lbs. Yhe handle of the lawn mower
olga2289 [7]
For this case we have the following equation:
 w = || F || • || PQ || costheta
 Where,
 || F ||: force vector module
 || PQ ||: distance module
 costheta: cosine of the angle between the force vector and the distance vector.
 Substituting values:
 w = (60) * (100) * (cos (45))
 w = 4242.640687 lb.ft
 Answer:

The work done pushing the lawn mower is:
 w = 4242.640687 lb.ft

The answer is: x is choose your answer
katrin2010 [14]

Answer:

All real numbers

Let's find the critical points of the inequality.

−4x+7=17

−4x+7+−7=17+−7(Add -7 to both sides)

−4x=10

−4x−1=10−1

(Divide both sides by -1)

4x=−10

4x=−10(Solve Exponent)

log(4x)=log(−10)(Take log of both sides)

x*(log(4))=log(−10)

x=log(−10)log(4)

x=NaN
