Nutrients from the digestive tract and storage sites to the rest of the body. Blood absorbs and distributes heat throughout the body. It helps to maintain homeostasis through the release or conservation of warmth. Blood vessels expand and contract when they react to outside organisms, such as bacteria, and to internal hormone and chemical changes.
Three functions blood serves in the body is, the blood transports oxygen from the lungs to the cells of the body, where it is needed for metabolism, the blood helps to keep certain values of the body in balance. For instance, it makes sure that the right body temperature is maintained, lastly, if a blood vessel is damaged, certain parts of the blood clot together very quickly and make sure that a scrape, for instance, stops bleeding. These are three functions that blood serves in the body.
