Fn = ma............. Equation 1

Fn = F-F'........... Equation 2

Where F = Horizontal applied force, F' = Frictional force

Substituting equation 2 into equation 1

F-F' = ma.................... Equation 3

making a the subject of the equation

a =(F-F')/m............... Equation 4

Given: F = 30 N, F' = 10 N , m = 10 kg

Substitute into equation 4

a = (30-10)/10

a = 20/10

a = 2 m/s²

Hence the acceleration = 2 m/s²
