The mean is calculated by adding up all of the given numbers and dividing by the number of numbers.

Lets, for ease of understanding, say that the first three number were 64...

Mean=(64+64+64)/3=192/3=64

Now, lets solve for the mean where 'x' is the unknown fourth number and 128 is the mean. (since, the answer said that when the fourth number was added the mean, 64, was doubled '64*2=128')

128=(64+64+64+x)/4
128=(192+x)/4
Multiply both sides by 4
512=192+x
subtract 192 from both sides
320=x

The missing number is 320..

Now lets double check our work.

Mean=(64+64+64+320)/4=512/4=128

Answer=320

This is how i got the answer which is 16:

so first of all, if the mean is 64 then, u divide the 64/2 and u will get 32 so 32 + 32 would give u 64 but u wanna get the fourth number which 16 so then, u divide 32/2 which gets u the number 16 and then if u add up 16 + 16 + 16 + 16 = 64 so now 16 is the fourth number.

im sincerely sorry cuz i didn't know any other way to explain it but i hope this is correct!! :)

What is the equation that passes through the points (5,2) and has a slope of 3
charle [14.2K]

Answer:

y=3x-13

Step-by-step explanation:

First, write your equation: y=3x+b. Plug in your ordered pair to the equation, it should look like this: 2=3(5)+b. 3 times 5 equals 15. This is what your equation should look like: 2=15+b. Subtract 15 from both sides to get -13 as your y-intercept. Go back to your original equation and plug in -13 to b. This is your final equation: y=3x-13. Hope this helped!

There are 2 leaves along 3 in. of an ivy vine. There are 14 leaves along 15 in. of the same vine. Which equation models the numb
Hunter-Best [27]
Doing a bit of guess and check, we can notice that the amount of leaves is one less than the number of inches of vine. Writing it out, we get x-1=y (the amount of inches-1=the amount of leaves)
