1) Determine a fórmula da base hidróxido de bário: * 1 ponto a) b) c) d) 2) As bases são substâncias iônicas, ou seja, quando sã
Reika [66]

Answer:

1) Ba(OH)₂

2) The correct option is a) they conduct electricity.

Explanation:

To deduce the formula of Barium hydroxide, we have to go to the periodic table and look for the Barium (Ba), which is in group 2 and has an ionic charge of 2+. Hydroxides are not an element that is present in the periodic table is the combination of Oxygen and Hydrogen (OH), and its ionic charge is 1-.

To name this substance, we write the elements that form it, which are Ba OH, then we see the ionic charges that they have, Ba2+ OH 1- and we change these charges giving the 2+ to the OH and the 1- to the Ba. It would look Ba OH₂; we do not write the 1, and as there is a 2, the OH, has to be between brackets so that the final formula is Ba(OH)₂. What we did is balancing the charges of the elements. In other words, we need 2 OH for every Ba. Hydroxides give an electron to balance the Ba ionic charge.

Barium Hydroxide is an ionic compound because ionic compounds are formed by a metal (Ba) and a nonmetal element (OH), ionic compounds are charged, so when they are in an aqueous solution they conduct electricity because their ions move freely in the solution.

calcium has atomic number of 20 how many electrons of a calcium atom are involved in chemical bonding
Lelu [443]

The answer is 2 electrons.

The electron configuration of calcium is 2:8:8:2

Calcium has two electrons in its outermost shell. These are its valence electrons and are the ones used in bonding with other elements. Valence electrons of an atom are those electrons that are in its outer energy shell or that are available for bonding.

Calcium is a metal. When metals react with non-metals, electrons are transferred from the metal atoms to the non-metal atoms forming ions. The resulting compound is known as an ionic compound.

For example, when calcium metal reacts with chlorine gas, calcium gives up its two valence electrons and Chlorine accepts them resulting in a new substance called calcium chloride in which the two elements have ended up forming ionic bonds.

Which highly reactive gas was probably absent from the Earth's primitive atmosphere? O2 (oxygen gas) water vapor methane carbon
rosijanka [135]
Oxygen gas was most likely absent from Earth's primitive atmosphere. The current theory is that the Earth's early atmosphere was composed of mainly carbon dioxide and methane due to the high volcanic activity. Cyanobacteria and their use of photosynthesis was what caused earth's atmosphere to become oxygen enriched.
I hope that helps.

Homogeneous series of n-propyl bromide?
goldenfox [79]

The homologous series ( not homogeneous series ) of n-propyl bromide is C3H7Br. It is also known as 1-Bromopropane

n-propyl bromide or 1-bromopropane, is a solvent that is used in cleaning metals, vapor degreasing and also for dry cleaning.

What is Homologous series?

Homologous series is a family of organic compound which follows a regular structural pattern and in which successive members differs from one another by a molecular formula of CH2

Below are some of their characteristics:

 • The general formula of all compounds in the series is the same.
 • They have the same functional group.
 • Their physical properties such as melting point, boiling point, density, generally show a gradual change with increase of molecular formula in the series.

A solution contains a mixture of pentane and hexane at room temperature. The solution has a vapor pressure of 258 torr . Pure pe
Sidana [21]

Answer:

The mole fraction of hexane is 0.61

Explanation:

Raoult's law allows calculating the vapor pressure of a substance when it is forming part of an ideal solution, knowing its vapor pressure when it is pure (at the same temperature) and the composition of the ideal solution in terms of mole fraction.

Pi=xi*Pi°

where Pi is the partial pressure of component i in the solution, Pi ° is the vapor pressure of component i pure and xi is the mole fraction of component i in the liquid phase.

In a solution, once the components have reached chemical equilibrium, the total vapor pressure is:

Psolution=P1 + P2=x1*P1° +x2*P2°

In this case:

Psolution= xpentane*Ppentane° +xhexane*Phexane°

Being:

 • Psolution= 258 torr
 • xpentane + xhexane=1 ⇒ xpentane= 1 - xhexane
 • Ppentane°= 425 torr
 • xhexane= ?
 • Phexane°= 151 torr

and replacing:

258 torr= (1-xhexane)* 425 torr + xhexane* 151 torr

you get:

258 torr= 425 torr - 425 torr*xhexane + xhexane* 151 torr

258 torr - 425 torr= - 425 torr*xhexane + xhexane* 151 torr

-167 torr= -274 torr*xhexane

xhexane=\frac{-167 torr}{-274 torr}

xhexane= 0.61

The mole fraction of hexane is 0.61
