Answer:

Height of the silo = 18 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the figure attached BC is the length of the silo and the height of the farmer is 5 ft.

Farmer is standing at 8 ft distance from the silo.

From triangle AEC,

tan(∠CAE) = \frac{CE}{AE}

                 = \frac{5}{8}

m(∠CAE) = tan^{-1}(\frac{5}{8})

               = 32°

m∠BAE = 90° - 32° = 58°

From the triangle ABE,

tan58° = \frac{BE}{AE}

BE = 8tan58°

BE = 12.8 ft

Total height of the silo = BE + EC

                                         = 12.8 + 5

                                         = 17.8

                                         ≈ 18 ft

Therefore, total height of the silo is 18 ft.

Marta_Voda [28]
Given:
12 rectangular planks
2 sides per plank
Length = 8 ft
Width = 3 ft

Area of a rectangle = Length * Width.
A = 8ft * 3ft
A = 24 ft²

24 ft² x 2 sides of a plank = 48 ft²
48 ft²/plank * 12 planks = 576 ft² is the total area Alex needs to varnish.

576 ft² ÷ 125 ft² = 4.608 pint or round to 5 pints

5 pints x $3.50/pint = $17.50 Total cost that Alex need to spend to varnish all the wooden planks.

What is the value of n in the proportion below? StartFraction n over 28 EndFraction = StartFraction 4 over 7 EndFraction 1 12 14
Llana [10]

The value of n in given proportion is 16

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

We have to find the value of "n" in the proportion

<em><u>Given proportion is:</u></em>

\frac{n}{28} = \frac{4}{7}

We can solve the above proportion by cross-multiplying

Multiply the numerator of the left-hand fraction by the denominator of the right-hand fraction

Multiply the numerator of the right-hand fraction by the denominator of the left-hand fraction

Set the two products equal to each other

Solve for the variable

\rightarrow \frac{n}{28} = \frac{4}{7}\\\\\rightarrow 7 \times n = 4 \times 28\\\\\rightarrow n = \frac{4 \times 28}{7}\\\\\rightarrow n = 4 \times 4 = 16

Thus the value of n in given proportion is 16
