MORE BENEFITS OF EATING ORGANIC Using specific data, we find a significant difference in the proportion of fruit flies surviving

after 13 days between those eating organic potatoes and those eating conventional (not organic) potatoes. This exercise asks you to conduct a hypothesis test using additional data. In this case, we are testing H0⁢ : po⁢= pcHa⁢: po⁢ > pc where po and pc represent the proportion of fruit flies alive at the end of the given time frame of those eating organic food and those eating conventional food, respectively. Use a 5% significance level. Effect of Organic Soybeans After 5 Days After 5 days, the proportion of fruit flies eating organic soybeans still alive is 0.92 , while the proportion still alive eating conventional soybeans is 0.85 . The standard error for the difference in proportions is 0.023 . What is the value of the test statistic? Round your answer to two decimal places.

Answer:

0.8780

Step-by-step explanation:

“What is the value of the test statistic? Round your answer to two decimal places.”

We must find a value of z, such that the area under the Normal curve with mean

\bar x = (0.92 - 0.85) = 0.07

and standard deviation

s = 0.023

between (-\infty, 0.07 + z*0.023] is 95% = 0.95

We use then a spreadsheet to work out that value z*0.023 = 0.108 (See picture), and

z = 0.108/0.023 = 0.8780

weqwewe [10]

Answer:

7 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

base area = (base length x base height)/2 = (2x6)/2 = 6 cm^2

height = V / base area = 42 / 6 = 7 cm

A cylindrical well is 15 meters deep and has a diameter of 1.6 meters. Approximately how many cubic meters of soil were dug out
Lisa [10]
We can dig out the soil from the well equal to volume of well.

Height(h) of well is = 15 meters.

Diameter = 1.6 meters.

So radius(r) = \frac{1.6}{2} = 0.8 meter.

As well in cylindrical shapes.

So volume of well = \pi r^2h
                               = \pi * (0.8)^2 * 15
                                = 9.6 * \pi
 In general \pi = 3.14

So volume of well is = 9.6 * 3.14
                                   = 30.144 cubic meter.

So we can dig out 30.144 cubic meter soil from well.
