The digestive system of humans consists of a long tube known as the alimentary canal or GI tract. The alimentary canal starts with the mouth and ends in the anus. There is a different function performed by the digestive system. The first function is to take food through the mouth. This process is called ingestion. Then the food enters into the stomach where it gets digest. This digestion is breaking down the complex foods into simpler forms by the action of some digestive enzymes. After the digestion in the stomach, the food enters into the small intestine where it is ready to be absorbed. These foods absorb by the villi of the small intestine. The remaining undigested finally expels out of the body through the anus.
