Malcom and Ravi races each other. The average of their maximum speeds was 260 km/h. If doubled, Malcom's maximum speed would be

80 km/h more than Ravi's maximum speed. What were Malcom's and Ravi's maximum speeds

Answer:

Malcom's maximum speed is 200 km/h

Ravi's maximum speed is 320 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

First we have to make two equations one that represents the maximum average speed of the 2 together and another that represents the relationship between their maximum speeds

R = Ravi's maximum speed

M = Malcom's maximum speed

(R + M) /2 = 260 km/h

2M = R + 80 km/h

we are going to solve for M in the first equation

(R + M) /2 = 260 km/h

(R + M)  = 260 * 2

M = 520 - R

we replace M with (520 - R) in the second equation

2M = R + 80 km/h

2(520 - R) = R + 80

1040 - 2R = R + 80

1040 - 80 = R + 2R

960 = 3R

960/3 = R

320 = R

replace R with its value in the first equation

M = 520 - R

M = 520 - 320

M = 200

Malcom's maximum speed is 200 km/h

Ravi's maximum speed is 320 km/h

Solve for r. Show your work!<br> 12 =R– (34 – 2)<br><br> Helpppp!!
amm1812

Answer:

r = 44

Step-by-step explanation:

12 = r - (34 - 2)

Solve for r

___________

To solve, we need to isolate r.

Distribute the negative sign with the numbers within the parenthesis :

12 = r - 34 + 2

Add like terms :

12 = r - 32

Add 32 to both sides :

44 = r

r = 44

Express the given integral as the limit of a riemann sum but do not evaluate: the integral from 0 to 3 of the quantity x cubed m
WARRIOR [948]
We will use the right Riemann sum. We can break this integral in two parts.
\int_{0}^{3} (x^3-6x) dx=\int_{0}^{3} x^3 dx-6\int_{0}^{3} x dx
We take the interval and we divide it n times:
\Delta x=\frac{b-a}{n}=\frac{3}{n}
The area of the i-th rectangle in the right Riemann sum is:
A_i=\Delta xf(a+i\Delta x)=\Delta x f(i\Delta x)
For the first part of our integral we have:
A_i=\Delta x(i\Delta x)^3=(\Delta x)^4 i^3
For the second part we have:
A_i=-6\Delta x(i\Delta x)=-6(\Delta x)^2i
We can now put it all together:
\sum_{i=1}^{i=n} [(\Delta x)^4 i^3-6(\Delta x)^2i]\\\sum_{i=1}^{i=n}[ (\frac{3}{n})^4 i^3-6(\frac{3}{n})^2i]\\&#10;\sum_{i=1}^{i=n}(\frac{3}{n})^2i[(\frac{3}{n})^2 i^2-6]
We can also write n-th partial sum:
S_n=(\frac{3}{n})^4\cdot \frac{(n^2+n)^2}{4} -6(\frac{3}{n})^2\cdot \frac{n^2+n}{2}
