You send a beam of light from a material with index of refraction 1.21 into an unknown material. In order to help identify this

material, you determine its index of refraction by measuring the angles of incidence and refraction for which you find the values 41.9° and 37.3° , respectively. What is the index of refraction of the unknown material?

Answer:

refractive index of the unknown material is 1.33.

Explanation:

μ₁ = 1.21

incidence angle (i) = 41.9°

refraction angle (r) = 37.3°

Let us assume μ be the refractive index of the unknown material

according to snell's law of refraction.

μ₁ sin i = μ₂ sin r

1.21 × sin 41.9° =  μ × sin 37.3°

μ = 1.33

hence the refractive index of the unknown material comes out top be 1.33

Since there is no air resistance, gravity is the only force acting on the two objects - the bowling ball and the arrow. Therefore, they will hit the ground at the same time. Thus the answer is D. Both hit the ground at the same time. Hope this helped and have a great day!

An electron moving parallel to a uniform electric field increases its speed from 2.0 ×× 1077 m/sm/s to 4.0 ×× 1077 m/sm/s over a
algol [13]

Answer:

262 kN/C

Explanation:

If the electrons is moving parallel, thus it has a retiline movement, and because the velocity is varing, it's a retiline variated movement. Thus, the acceleration can be calculated by:

v² = v0² + 2aΔS

Where v0 is the initial velocity (2.0x10⁷ m/s), v is the final velocity (4.0x10⁷ m/s), and ΔS is the distance (1.3 cm = 0.013 m), so:

(4.0x10⁷)² = (2.0x10⁷)² + 2*a*0.013

16x10¹⁴ = 4x10¹⁴ + 0.026a

0.026a = 12x10¹⁴

a = 4.61x10¹⁶ m/s²

The electric force due to the electric field (E) is:

F = Eq

Where q is the charge of the electron (-1.602x10⁻¹⁹C). By Newton's second law:

F = m*a

Where m is the mass, so:

E*q = m*a

The mass of one electrons is 9.1x10⁻³¹ kg, thus, the module of electric field strenght (without the minus signal of the electron charge) is:

E*(1.602x10⁻¹⁹) = 9.1x10⁻³¹ * 4.61x10¹⁶

E = 261,866.42 N/C

E = 262 kN/C

What is the gravitational potential energy of a 2.5kg object that is 300m above the surface of the earth? g=10m/s
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

7350 J

Explanation:

Gravitational Potential Energy: This is defined as the energy possessed by a body due to it's position in the gravitational field. The S.I unit is Joules(J).

Applying,

E.p = mgh..................... Equation 1

Where E.p = Gravitational potential Energy, m = mass of the object, h = height of the object above the surface of the earth, g = acceleration due to gravity.

Given: m = 2.5 kg, h = 300 m

Constant: g = 9.8 m/s²

Substitute these values into equation 1

E.p = 2.5(300)(9.8)

E.p = 7350 J.

A paper airplane with mass 0.1 kg is flying 1.5 m above the ground with a speed of 2 m/s. What is the total mechanical energy of
Wewaii [24]
Total mechanical energy = kinetic energy + potential energy
E = KE + PE
E = ½mv² + mgh
E = ½(0.1 kg)(2 m/s)² + (0.1 kg)(9.8 m/s²)(1.5 m)
E = 0.2 J + 1.47 J
E = 1.67 J
