Hello!

A solution of a weak acid and its conjugate base is called a buffer solution. It can resist the addition of bases and acids while maintaining the pH approximately constant.

To calculate the pH of a buffer solution, we'll use the famous Henderson-Hasselbach equation, applying the pKa value of the Benzoic Acid (4,20). In this equation, [A⁻] represents the concentration of the Conjugate Base and [HA] the concentration of the acid.

pH=pKa + log( \frac{ [A^{-}]}{[HA]} ) \\  \\ pH=4,20 + log ( \frac{0,170 M}{0,245} ) \\  \\ pH=4,04

So, the pH of the solution would be 4,04.

Have a nice day!

Two forces are applied to a 17kg box, as shown. The box is on a smooth surface
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

A. the box accelerated to at 1.0 m/s² to the right because the net force is 17N to the right.

Explanation:

To solve this problem, we need to find the net force acting on the body;

   Net force  = Forward force  - Backward force

  Forward force  = 35N

  Backward force  = 18N

 Net force  = 35N  - 18N = 17N

 So;

   Net force  = mass x acceleration

        17  = 17 x acceleration

        Acceleration  = 1m/s²

Therefore, the body moves in the forward direction with an acceleration of  1m/s²

Barium carbonate  barium oxide and carbon dioxide balanced formula HELP ME PLEASE
Sauron [17]

Answer:

4Ba(CO3) -> 4BaO2 + 2CO2

Explanation:

I looked at the oxygens to balance this. Ba(CO3) normally has 3 oxygens. BaO2 and CO2 have 4 oxygens total. The common multiple of 3 & 4 is 12. So there should be 12 oxygens on both sides. Then I just found the coefficients that would give 12 oxygens on both sides and can balance the rest of the atoms.

A mixture of three noble gases has a total pressure of 1.25 atm. The individual pressures exerted by neon and argon are 0.68
FinnZ [79.3K]

First of all, as you seen the gases are noble which means that will not react with each other and in this case each gas create individual pressure.

P_{T}= total pressure

P_{Ne} = pressure of neon

P_{Ar} = pressure of argon

P_{He} = pressure of helium {which is required}

P_{T} = P_{Ne} + P_{Ar} + P_{He}

1.25 = 0.68 + 0.35 +  P_{He}

P_{He}   = 1.25  - [0.68 + 0.35] = 0.22 atm

Which molecule or reaction supplies the energy for polymerization of nucleotides in the process of transcription?
Sindrei [870]

Answer to this is "the phosphate bonds that are present in the nucleotide triphosphate serves as the substrates" in the process of transcription.

Transcription is the process in which DNA is transformed into RNA with the help of an enzyme known as RNA-polymerase. RNA and DNA are the nucleic acids which are formed by linking the nucleotides together.

1. If I have 45 L of He in a balloon at 25 degrees celsius and increase the temperature of the
Greeley [361]

Use Charles' Law: V1/T1 = V2/T2. We assume the pressure and mass of the helium is constant. The units for temperature must be in Kelvin to use this equation (x °C = x + 273.15 K).

We want to solve for the new volume after the temperature is increased from 25 °C (298.15 K) to 55 °C (328.15 K). Since the volume and temperature of a gas at a constant pressure are directly proportional to each other, we should expect the new volume of the balloon to be greater than the initial 45 L.

Rearranging Charles' Law to solve for V2, we get V2 = V1T2/T1.

(45 L)(328.15 K)/(298.15 K) = 49.5 ≈ 50 L (if we're considering sig figs).
