Happy New Year from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

Part A:

point   \ coordinates \ quadrant:

I            (1,2)                  1

L           (-4,2)                2

K (-4,0) does not belong to any quadrant

J           (3,-1)                4

M         (4,-4)                4

Part B:

Point K = (-4,0) lies on the x-axis so reflecting it about the x-axis gives the same point. In other words, the "reflected" point has coordinates (-4,0)

Part C:

L = (-4,2). Reflecting it about the y-axis gives the point (4,2)

Thank you,

MrB

The probability is 8.7%.

To find P(X<2), we find P(X = 1 or X = 0). For a binomial distribution, we use the formula
_nC_r(p)^r(1-p)^{n-r}

For this problem, p=0.6 and n=5:
_5C_1(0.6)^1(1-0.6)^4+_5C_0(0.6)^0(1-0.6)^5
\\
\\_5C_1(0.6)(0.4)^4+_5C_0(0.4)^5
\\
\\ \frac{5!}{1!4!}(0.6)(0.4)^4+\frac{5!}{0!5!}(0.4)^5
\\
\\ 5(0.6)(0.4)^4+(0.4)^5
\\
\\0.0768+0.01024 = 0.08704\approx0.087=8.7%

Tangent WZ and secant WV intersect at point W. Find the value of X. If necessary, round to the hundredths place.
alexira [117]
For the above figure, the formula is,

x² = WY (YV + WY)

WY = 5
YV = 12

Substituting in the above formula,

x² = 5 x (12 + 5)
x² = 5 x 17 = 85
x² = 85
⇒ x = √85 = 9.21954 = 9.220
