Why is helium less reactive than hydrogen?

Chemistry

Answer:

D.

Each helium atom has a full valence electron shell, but each hydrogen atom only has one valence electron.

Explanation:

Atoms are made of protons, neutrons and electrons. Protons and neutrons are in the nucleus and electrons orbit in energy levels. Chemical properties of elements depend mostly on the number of electrons in the valence / outermost energy shell.

Elements that have an incomplete energy shell are more reactive as they try to gain a complete outer shell electron configuration either by losing electrons or gaining electrons from the valence energy shell.

He is a noble gas, which means it has a full valence electron shell therefore it is inert. H has one electron in the outer shell therefore its reactive by gaining or losing the outermost electron.

therefore H is more reactive than He as it has an incomplete valence electron shell.

If you produce .65moles of carbon dioxide when aluminum carbonate is decomposed, how many moles of aluminum carbonate did you st
UkoKoshka [18]

0.22 moles of Al₂(CO₃)₃

Explanation:

The decomposition reaction of aluminium carbonate (Al₂(CO₃)₃):

Al₂(CO₃)₃ → Al₂O₃ + 3 CO₂

Taking account the chemical reaction we devise the following reasoning:

if 1 mole of Al₂(CO₃)₃ produces 3 moles of 3 CO₂

then X moles of Al₂(CO₃)₃ produces 0.65 moles of 3 CO₂

X = (1 × 0.65) / 3 = 0.22 moles of Al₂(CO₃)₃

Control is something that remains the same or constant through an experiment. And an experiment group is the group you test the one change on. (Also called the dependent variable)

In a hydrogen fuel cell, hydrogen gas and oxygen gas are combined to form water. Write the balanced chemical equation describing
xxTIMURxx [149]

Answer: The chemical reaction is given below.

Explanation:

A fuel cell is defined as the electrochemical cell which converts the chemical energy of a fuel (often used hydrogen) and an oxidizing agent (often used oxygen) into electrical energy via a pair of redox reactions.

The reactions which occur in hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell are:

At cathode: H_2+2OH^-\rightarrow 2H_2O+2e^-

At anode: \frac{1}{2}O_2+H_2O+2e^-\rightarrow 2OH^-

Net reaction: H_2+\frac{1}{2}O_2\rightarrow H_2O

Thus, the chemical reaction is given above.
