Two moles of ideal He gas are contained at a pressure of 1 atm and a temperature of 300 K. 34166 J of heat are transferred to th

e gas, as a result of which the gas expands and does 1216 J of work against its surroundings. The process is reversible. (Note: C = 1.5R) Please calculate the final temperature of the gas

Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

       n = 2 mol,         P = 1 atm,         T = 300 K

        Q = +34166 J,         W= -1216 J (work done against surrounding)

       C_{v} = \frac{3R}{2}

Relation between internal energy, work and heat is as follows.

      Change in internal energy (\Delta U) = Q + W

                                   = [34166 + (-1216)] J

                                   = 32950 J

Also,  \Delta U = n \times C_{v} \times \Delta T

                      = 3R \times (T_{2} - T_{1})

                 32950 J = 3 \times 8.314 J/mol K \times (T_{2} - 300 K)

                \frac{32950}{24.942} = T_{2} - 300 K

                            1321.06 K + 300 K = T_{2}

                                       T_{2} = 1621.06 K

Thus, we can conclude that the final temperature of the gas is 1621.06 K.

A sample of seawater consists of water, sodium ions, chloride ions, and several other dissolved salts. These ions and salts are
stellarik [79]

Answer:

Mixture, homogeneous mixture, solution

Explanation:

A mixture is defined as a substance which is made by physical combination of two or more substance.

As in sea water, more than two substance are present, therefore is considered as mixture.

A mixture is considered as homogeneous mixture, if it has same proportion of components through out the mixture. In sea water proportions of all the components are same, therefore, its is also a homogeneous mixture.

In solution, solute is dissolved in a solvent and the concentration of the solute is same through out the solution.. In sea water, sodium ions, chloride ions, and several other salts are dissolved in water. Therefore, water is considered as solvents and components present are considered as solute.

so, sea water can also considered as solution.

Among the given options, 1, 3 and 4 are correct

So, sea water is considered as mixture, homogeneous mixture and solution.

Calculate the number of joules released when 72.5 grams of water at 95.0 degrees Celsius cools to a final temperature of 28.0 de
Airida [17]
Water's specific heat capacity is 4200 J/Kg°C
95-28=67
72.5grams in kg is 0.0725kg
Energy = 67×0.0725×4200
Energy = 20,401.5 J or 20.4015 kJ

Which statement is true regarding methane and ammonia?
sukhopar [10]
The options for given question are as follow,

1) Methane molecules show hydrogen bonding.
2) Ammonia molecules show hydrogen bonding.
3) Methane has stronger hydrogen bonding than ammonia.
4) Both the compounds do not show hydrogen bonding.
5) Both the compounds have strong hydrogen bonding.

Answer:
            Correct answer is Option-2 (Ammonia molecules show hydrogen bonding).

Explanation:
                   Hydrogen bond interactions are formed when a partial positive hydrogen atom attached to most electronegative atom of one molecule interacts with the partial negative most electronegative element of another molecule. So, in Ammonia hydrogen gets partial positive charge as nitrogen is highly electronegative. While the C-H bond in Methane is non-polar and fails to form hydrogen bond interactions.
