An enzyme can affect a chemical reaction by bringing the reactant closer together - chemical bonds may be weakened, and reactions will happen faster than without a catalyst. The energy can also be lowered, which means reactions will proceed at a lower temperature, light presence, etc.

Mannitol salt agar is defined as both a selective and a differential agar since it selects against non-halophiles and allows the
viktelen [127]

Answer: The above statement is true

Explanation:

Mannitol salt agar is a medium which contain high concentration of salt,about 7.5%-10%. It is commonly used as a selective and differential growth medium.Because of its high concentration of salt,it inhibits growth if non halophiles(as they only grow best in media containing less tha 0.2M salts). If the bacteria can ferment mannitol,an acidic byproduct is formed which turns phenol red agar into yellow.So only those bacteria grow well which can ferment mannitol.

Which direction does air circulate into low pressure zones in the northern and southern hemisphere
Yuri [45]
Now consider a low pressure area on a disk as shown below.A parcel of air at point A would move toward the center of the low pressure area. That movement would take it farther away from the center of the disk and therefore it would move to the west. A parcel of air at B would move toward the center of the low pressure area which would also take it closer to the center of the spinning disk where its speed is greater than the surrounding points. It would appear to move to the east. With A moving to the west and B moving to the east the line from A to B is rotating counterclockwise.

The following equation represents the type of reaction called
Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

Reduction

Explanation:

Reduction:

Reduction involve the gain of electron and oxidation number is decreased.

Mn⁺⁷ +3e⁻    →    Mn⁴⁺

Mn gets three electrons , its oxidation state reduced from +7 to +4 so Mn gets reduced.

Examples:

Consider the following reactions.

4KI + 2CuCl₂  →   2CuI  + I₂  + 4KCl

the oxidation state of copper is changed from +2 to +1 so copper get reduced.

CO + H₂O   →  CO₂ + H₂

the oxidation state of carbon is +2 on reactant side and on product side it becomes +4 so carbon get oxidized.

H₂S + 2NaOH → Na₂S + 2H₂O

The oxidation sate of sulfur is -2 on reactant side and in product side it is also -2 so it neither oxidized nor reduced.

What is the value of delta Hrxn for this equation:
Ratling [72]

Answer:

The ΔHrxn for the above equation = 179 kJ/mol

Explanation:

The reaction bond enthalpies are for the reactant;

3 × N-H = 3 × 390 = 1,170 kJ/mol

2 × O=O = 2 × 502 = 1004 kJ/mol

The reaction bond enthalpies are for the product;

3 × N-O = 3 × 201 = 603 kJ/mol

3 × O-H = 3 × 464 = 1,392 kJ/mol

The ΔHrxn for the above equation is therefore;

ΔHrxn = 1,170 + 1,004 - (603 + 1,392) = 179 kJ/mol
